Answer the following questions:

1. WHO IS SNOWDEN?
● Edward Snowden, in full Edward Joseph Snowden, (born June 21,
1983, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, U.S.), American intelligence contractor who
in 2013 revealed the existence of secret wide-ranging information-gathering
programs conducted by the National Security Agency (NSA).

2. WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST DISCOVERY?

● In 2013, computer expert and former CIA systems administrator, Edward
Snowden released confidential government documents to the press about the
existence of government surveillance programs and I think that is his biggest
discovery in his country. According to many legal experts, and the U.S.
government, his actions violated the Espionage Act of 1917, which identified the
leak of state secrets as an act of treason. Yet despite the fact that he broke the
law, Snowden argued that he had a moral obligation to act. He gave a
justification for his “whistleblowing” by stating that he had a duty “to inform the
public as to that which is done in their name and that which is done against
them.” According to Snowden, the government’s violation of privacy had to be
exposed regardless of legality.

3. HOW DID HE CHANGE THE WORLD’S VIEW ON HACKING PEOPLE’S PERSONAL

INFORMATION?
● Snowden's revelations sparked debates about mass surveillance,
government secrecy, and the balance between national security and
information privacy, and have had a significant impact on society and the tech
industry, serving as the impetus for new products that address privacy concerns,
such as encryption services. These consequences have been dubbed the
"Snowden effect" by the media and others. I think because of his disclosure it
makes people to be mindful about their personal information especially
nowadays that everything can be manipulated and can hacked. Snowden
helps to realized that we should always look for our safety.
