HOMEWORK ACTIVITY
Homework: Passive voice (present and past)
Objective: The student is able to recognize and apply the passive voice in present and past
tense.
Writing Activity
You have created the most important device which will help people to do their lives easier
but you do not have enough money to promote it. You can follow the example:
This product is manufactured with the latest technology. It is produced in countries which
support fair trade and ban the use od pollutants.
Write a letter to the Colombian Federation of Inventors describing your device:
How you manufacture it.
The benefits of promoting it.
How peoples’ lives will change.

Write a 100-120 words letter including the passive voice structure when you describe the
process of manufacturing.

Dear Colombian Federation of Inventors:

I have designed and built prototypes of flying cars that meet the feasibility conditions to
be used in a similar way to helicopters. Such a vehicle called a swallow is 3 meters long
and 2 meters wide, eight engines that are propelled by innocuous gas allow it to transport
two passengers at a speed of 85km/h for 8 hours. The benefits of these vehicles allow
easy movement from one place to another, avoid the traffic of big cities, reduce time,
people would reach their destinations faster and reduce pollution by running on
innocuous gas.

Speaking Activity
Read the following and record yourself using the passive voice to describe the
manufacturing process of your device with the following characteristics.
Situation:
You are the CEO of an important company in your city which manufactures devices and
you are giving a tour to new trainees:
- Welcome them.
- Explain the manufacturing process of your device-mentioning who or what
performs such processes.
- Possible problems that can appear during such process with their respective
solution.
- Conclude the tour.

- Dear new trainees:

- The manufacturing process of flying cars is that most of the individual parts that
will compose it are manufactured in different plants or factories specialized in each of
these components. It will be the job of the purchasing departments and later, of logistics
and warehouse, to carry out the pertinent operations, to have a sufficient and constant
inventory of all the pieces, to later classify and distribute them in the different stations
job.
- During such process can appear possible problems as shortage of the pieces for
their respective solution we were signing agreements with foreign companies to import
the missing parts
- The tour concludes with an exhibition of the flying cars 2023
