Intervention programs for struggling readers in
the middle-to- late elementary years tend to
focus on comprehension strategies, or decoding
skills. However, these programs have not
attempted to link instruction in decoding to
strategies for attepmting to figure out meanings
of unfamiliar words while reading. But the CR
program is one effort to fill this gap.
