"About the Life and Works Of Jose Rizal"

(Informative Speech)
"If there is no struggle, there is no progress" - This quote is originated by
(Frederick Douglass) that He believed that progress starts with the desire for
something of exceptional value, and the willingness to endure work, suffering or
sacrifice to get it. In this life is too many challenges that we can experience in this
world that sometimes we don't know how to handle it or how to pass by it. This is
Sandra lee ann F.Jusay, who wants to give you an Informative Speech about the
Life and Works of Jose Rizal Protacio Rizal Mercado y alonso Realonda or
Popularly known as Jose Rizal. Dr. Jose Rizal was born in Calamba, Laguna
in (June 19,1861) to a wealthy family. He was the 7th among the 11
Children of Francisco Mercado Rizal and Teodora Alonzo Realonda.
Paciano the second to the eldest child in the family. Paciano was the
only brother of Jose Rizal. His other siblings were Saturnina, Narasa,
Olympia, Lucia, Maria, Conception, Josefa, Trinidad, and soledad. Dr.
Jose Rizal had a Chinese ancestor from his father's side, Domingo Lam -
Com who married a Chinese mestiza, Ines De la Rosa aside from his
Chinese ancestry, he also had Japanese, Spanish, and malay blood.
What about you? What do you know about him? Or what else can you
learn about him after reading this? Well? Let's find out.
The life of a person is shaped by the society that he or she is a part of. Thus, in
studying, and understanding the life of Jose Rizal, it is necessary to look into the
social context where he was situated in the 19th century Philippines. Jose rizal
was born in the 19th century. By the 19th century, two centuries after the
Spaniards colonies was already waning. The Spanish friars, despite the
controversies involving them, were crucial in maintaining the Philippine
archipelago as a Spanish colony. The expulsion of Chinese immigrants in the
Philippines enabled the Chinese mestizos to take over the markets that the
former previously controlled. Chinese mestizos became prominent and influential
figures in the area of industry, commerce, and business during the Spanish
colonial period. They carried on a lucrative commerce by collecting goods from
the North and selling them to Manila and nearby provinces. Aside from
contributing to economic stability, another significant role that chinese mestizos
played in the Philippine society was the formation of the Filipino identity.

This was evident during the latter part of the 19th century when they became
clearly influential in the economy of the Philippines as a Spanish colony. The most
vivid manifestation of the budding sense of Filipino nationalism appeared in the
late 1870's in the writings of Pedro Paterno and Gregorio Sanciano who wrote
about the essence of being a Filipino, defended the dignity of the Filipinos, and
explained the supposed indolence of the indios. Their writings were nurtured by
Jose Rizal, a known pride of the malay race but also a Chinese mestizo, Jose Rizal
was descended from a pure Chinese ancestor and a long time of Chinese
mestizos, and mestizos. Jose Rizal is a Fifth generation of a Chinese mestizo.
However, he and his father were considered as indios. Through his novels Noli Me
Tangmere, and El Filibusterismo. In this novels Jose Rizal exposed the abuses and
corruption of the Spanish authorities, condemned the oppression of the people
by the colonizers, and ridiculed the hypocrisy and overbearing attitude of the
Spanish friars. He also depicted the bloody revolution that sparked people's fury
and eventually led them to revolt. That is why his novels brimmed with insults
and scorn for them. Jose Rizal clearly manifested his anti-Chinese feelings in his
writings, as well as in his correspondence with the family and friends. By virtue of
his lineage or family, Jose Rizal could have had a special connection with the
Chinese, but that was not the case. The concern on even if Rizal's contempt over
his Chinese family made him less of a hero is not something to declare about.
Chinese mestizos or not Rizal is a nationalist and a Filipino. So why Jose Rizal
represents as considered a National hero? From what have been said about him
in the previous page of this discussion, it is evident how great Jose Rizal is. His
greatness did not fade even after his death. Jose Rizal became the Philippine
national hero since he fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He
expressed his love for the Philippines through his novels, essays, and articles
rather than through the use of force.

Now if we discuss about the childhood of Jose rizal, at an early age, Jose rizal was
already seen as a welcome companion by many adults it is because he was very
respectful and polite. In his childhood, Jose rizal was very curious about the thing
around him. This is why he enjoyed very much the stories that his mother told
him which also made him interested in legends and folklore. Now if we discuss
about the early education of Jose rizal, I am sure that you will be amazed to him.
Jose Rizal's first teacher was his mother. By three years old, Jose was already able
to recite the alphabet because of his mother's guidance. Aside from his mother,
Jose rizal also had a private tutor which is Leon Monroy, who taught him the
rudiments or foundation of Latin. Jose had his early education in calamba and
Biñan. His education was focused on reading, writing, arithmetic, and religion.
Jose's first teacher in Biñan was Maestro Justiniano Aquino Cruz. In terms of
academics, Jose rizal was the most outstanding among all his classmates. He
surpassed them all in Spanish, Latin, and other subjects.
We can really feel the heroism of Jose rizal because of his greatness and courage
to pursue our country's freedom, espicifically for the Filipino people and to
inspired us especially Philippine revolution, because of Jose rizal many people can
inspire his greatness that they can think the good work of Jose rizal to think
positively that just like Jose rizal do, they able to do and pursue the good work
that they think what is a good should do to their country. We cannot get rid of
Jose's love for his own country of how much he love. We can learn a lot of lessons
of Jose rizal especially when it comes to "respect" of how to respect adults, just
like Jose rizal was seen as a welcome companion by many adults because he was
very respectful and polite, and we must learn by that. We also learned how he
sacrifice himself just to give freedom to people, and even with the violence of the
Spanish friars, which he continued even though it was difficult. The works of Jose
rizal can also give a positive effects on the Philippines as a National consciousness
that Rizal's writings, particularly his two novels, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El
Filibusterismo", that awakened the national consciousness of the Filipino people
and inspired them to fight against the injustices and abuses of the Spanish
colonial government. Rizal's life and works continue to inspire generations of
Filipinos to their country and fight for its freedom and progress. "Rizal was the
greatest product of the Philippines and his coming to the world was like the
appearance of a rare comet, whose rare brilliance appears only every other
century" This quote highlights the exceptional qualities and impact of Jose rizal on
the Philippines and the word. Rizal's life and works continue to inspire and
influence people today, not just in the Philippines, but also in many part of the
world.
