“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama

sabachthani?” that is,

“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
With this verse, we all contemplate. We all had those moments when we feel like we are not being heard
or that God doesn’t hear and answer our prayers. We feel as though we have been abandoned. We had our
desperate moments. We pray for our loved ones to live longer but tragedies happen and we can not
explain why. Jesus suffered and endured the pain to bear our guilt and the punishment for our sins. It was
as though God had abandoned Him but He was offered to save us from the wrath of God. In our life, we
question God when we are in pain, when we are in agony and when it seems like God is not heeding to
our calls. But we should always keep the faith and keep on trusting God just as Jesus trusted God when
He was offered for our sins. Sometimes, God does not answer our prayers the way we want. I have often
encountered these quotes and I want to share it with you. “I asked for strength and God gave me
difficulties to make me strong. I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve. I asked for
prosperity and God gave me Brain and Brawn to work. I asked for courage and God gave me danger to
overcome. I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help. I asked for favors and God gave me
opportunities. I received nothing I wanted, I received everything I needed.” God never forsakes His
people. He never forsakes the righteous. You see, God never abandons His people. He is always there to
listen and when we are in pain and when we are suffering, we can always cry out to Him and He will give
us comfort.
