Lesson Objectives The students will be able to count on from any number counting
by tens and by ones with at least 80% accuracy.
Materials Teacher:
-Smartboard/whiteboard
-10's bundles/1's

Planning for Learners Differentiation: For those who need extra practice (potentially
Mia, Grace, and Noah), I will reteach this concept following the
exit ticket while the rest of the class works on IXL's.
Modifications/Accommodations:
-Students more prone to struggle will be paired with students
who will be able to help.
-Brody will have a one-to-one
Lesson Presentation
Introduction Review:
-Can anyone count to 50 by tens?
-Can anyone count to 100 by tens?
-Put the number 78 on the board. Ask if anyone can come point
to the tens place and the ones place.
-Tell the class you will be playing a game today.
Sequence of activities -Split the class into pairs and give each pair ten bundles of ten
including assessments and nine ones.
-Explain that you will show them a number and they will have to
show how many tens and how many ones using their supplies.
-Use these numbers:
14, 23, 56, 7, 82, 47, 68, 99, 10 (tricky one), 39.
-Following this activity, tell half the class they are tens and the
other half of the class are ones. Give the students who are tens

bundles of tens to hold and give the students who are ones, ones
to hold.
-We will play the same game as before but reverse. Choose
however many tens students and ones students you would like
(for example, have two tens students come forward and three
ones students).
-Ask the class what number we just made (23). Use the same
numbers as the previous game.

Lesson Wrap-up -The students will complete an exit ticket where they must color
all numbers in the tens place one color and all the numbers in
the ones place another color on a hundreds chart.
-They will keep this hundreds chart to refer to as they need it.
