A Big Balloon ‘We went to a picnic in the park. We saw a big balloon at the picnic. It was a hot air balloon. It had many colors on it. It had a big basket on the bottom. People could ride in the hot air balloon. It went high in the sky. My brother wanted to ride in the balloon. He was too young to ride in that big balloon! My father bought him a little red balloon to play with. He liked the little red balloon. © A Card for My Mother Mother's Day is coming soon. Mother's Day is a special day. Our class all wanted to make something for our mothers. Our teacher helped us to make Mother's Day cards at school. We used pretty paper, markers, crayons, and pencils. I drew a picture of some pretty flowers on my card. I colored the flowers yellow. I hope my mother will like her card. 18 f The Tire Swing We have a new tire swing in the park in my neighborhood. Our fathers hung it for my friends and me to play on. The swing hangs in a big oak tree. We have lots of fun playing on the tire swing. I love to sit in the tire and swing from the tree. My friends in the neighborhood like the tire swing, too. We take turns swinging and pushing each other on the swing. The park is a great place to play. The new tire swing makes playing in the park even more fun. | eons coe The Pretty Shells I like to look for pretty shells on the beach. There are so many shells on the beach. There are many different kinds of shells. They are all different shapes and sizes. I pick the shells I like and put them in a bag to take home with me. I put them on the shelf in my room when I get home. I share some with my friends. It is fun to have shells. D | rw ony tte Father makes a desk and a chair. Father made a big desk and a chair. He painted them brown and gray. Then he was so tired he took a nap. Mother said to Paul, “We will go to the store and get him a lamp to go with the desk and chair.” And off they went. Father got up. He saw the gold lamp on the desk. He sat down in the chair and said, "It looks so good!" A New House We have a new house. It is in a different neighborhood. in our city. The new house is blue. My family likes the new house. We have a big back yard with a fence. My dog likes to run and play in the back yard. I have my own room upstairs in the house. My room is green. I like to play in my room. I run up and down the stairs in our new house. I made a new friend. His name is Toby. He lives in the house across the street. We go to the same school. We play after school every afternoon. Harry and Nancy Jackson Hot dogs, cake and ice cream will be served. A Bird and a Little Bug The white bird was looking for bugs to eat. She looked in the grass, but saw no bugs. She dug in the sand with her feet, but saw no bugs. She dug a hole in the mud, but saw no bugs. Then a little bug flew down and sat on the bird's nose. “Good! A bug to eat!” She jumped up to take a bite of the bug, but ... zip! ... the bug flew away. Father's Day Father's Day is on the third Sunday in June. Father's Day is a very special day in America. On Father's Day, we say ‘thank you ' to fathers for everything they do for us. Stepfathers and grandfathers are celebrated on Father's Day, too. Families have fun on Father's Day. Some families give presents to fathers. Some families may have a party. What does your family do to celebrate on Father's Day? The Mule and a Bug "Let's go," said Jeff, as he got on the mule. He kicked the mule in the ribs, but no — the mule did not go. He hit the mule on the back, but no — the mule did not go. Ina rage, Jeff yelled at the mule, but no — the mule did not go. Jeff gave up and got off the mule. A big bug bit the mule on the back. That made the mule go! Pan 2 Humantion A Smart Puppy Dad gave a fuzzy little puppy to Jim. Jim tied the puppy to a tree and went to school. But the puppy bit off the rope and ran away. Dad went to look for the puppy. He looked down the road, up the hill, at the park, and at the zoo, but no puppy. “Jim will be so sad." Then he saw Jim's school bus on the road. The bus stopped, and Jim got off. The puppy was with him. Dad laughed and patted the puppy. "You didn't run away," he said. "You went to find Jim!" Eddy's Castle Eddy couldn't wait to get to the beach. He was going to the beach with his family. Eddy loved playing in the sand at the beach. Eddy took his pail and shovel with him. He was going to dig in the sand. When the car stopped, Eddy jumped out and ran to the beach. He put his pail and shovel down in the sand. He ran to the water and played in the waves. Then he went back to the sand and started to dig. Eddy was going to build a house in the sand today. It would be a nice house. Eddy worked and worked. Finally, it was finished. It was more than a nice house. It was a beautiful dog castle!
