ABSTRACT:
The project ‘MASK 2.0’ is a mask that has an upgraded design and
function over a classical one. The mask is designed in such a way that it
provides the user and the people around the user protection from viruses.
The product design has rectified a few problems the people face while
wearing a normal mask. The mask is equipped with small sensors and QR
codes to solve the problems in a normal mask.

EXISTING PRODUCT:
Paper Mask:
Advantages: These masks are intended to filter larger nuisance dusts from
the air, such as pollen or sawdust, which are much larger than virus
particles. Like surgical masks, they provide some barrier protection for the
wearer and those in close contact with the wearer.
Limitations: Though made of filtering material, they are not designed to
filter inhaled particles as small as viruses and don’t form a face seal.

OUR MOTIVATION:
During the Covid-19 pandemic all citizens of the world are covering up
their faces with masks to protect themselves from the virus. But people
also face some distractions while wearing them. We asked a few citizens
what their problems were. The problems we found out were the following:
➢ People wearing spectacles lose their sight while they exhale due to
the accumulation of moisture on the glass.
➢ People were having ear pain while wearing the mask for a
continuous period of time due to its classic design.
➢ The tendency of people continuously removing their mask in public
unknowingly.
➢ People with facial recognition phones faced hard to unlock phones
frequently
➢ People forget the importance of social distancing
➢ Tedious process to find the route map of a victim.
Our group members wanted to create a product which is useful for society
and which is easily affordable for a common man. Therefore our
motivation is to find solutions for all above mentioned problems.

BACK VIEW

➢ We have used a flexible metal strip in the nose portion for holding
the mask on the face tightly and thereby reducing the gap below the eye
portion.
➢ The shape of the mask is made conical in order to direct the exit
flow of air through the sides. The top layer also has a moisture absorbing
material.
➢ In order to reduce the ear pain, we have introduced a clip(USB
connector) system with an extension that clips behind the head perfectly.
The clip is foam-padded for comfort.
➢ In order to reduce the frequent unknowingly removal of mask we
used a vibration motor to remind the user.
➢ The system is powered by a rechargeable battery situated near the
USB connector.
➢ The system only works when the buckles are connected which acts
as a switch.
➢ In an attempt to solve the facial recognition by phones we have
printed unique QR codes on the mask.
➢ We have included a thermal sensor which records the temperature or
the user periodically and stores them in the memory device
➢ The GPS Module also stores the real-time location of the user in the
memory
➢ The data in the memory in can be transferred via the USB.
➢ Use of ultrasonic to maintain social distancing which is accompanied
by a BLE (Bluetooth Low-Energy) which helps in contact tracing.

ADVANTAGES:
➢ Washable and anti-bacterial material.
➢ Prevents fogging of lens in spectacles
➢ Reduces ear pain.
➢ Easy unlocking of phones with facial recognition
➢ Prevents the frequent removal of masks using vibration motor.
➢ Able to get the route map of victim and also trace his contact.

DISADVANTAGES:
➢ A bit heavier than normal surgical mask
➢ Needs to be charged in a week
➢ Smaller components could have been used for reducing weight
➢ The system can be implemented more effectively by incorporating
more efficient sensor network

FUTURE SCOPE:
➢ The system can be used in factories with Bluetooth tagging for
effective contact tracing.
➢ Helps in to find Route maps of a victim more quicker than earlier
➢ Can be used for effective reduction of diseases

CONCLUSION:
MASK 2.0 is a mask with useful features. Which is operated by means of
sensors and microcontrollers. It can be implemented in place like big
factories, skill parks etc where there is a huge population density. If
possible this can bring a change in the present pandemic situation and
make the place more safe from the spread of viruses.
