Brief Job Description as Principal :
(a) Looks after all the Administrative and Academic activities falling in line with the AICTE,
(b) direct and monitors the academic and nonacademic activities within the Institute
(c) plan and implement the daily routines within an educational setting,
(d) Appoint Guest Faculty Member according to the norms of the AICTE
(e) Maintain academic discipline in the School,
(f) Initiates in developing, planning, implementing, and administering goals and objectives
related to the assigned area including course and program curriculum planning.
(g) review, remove, rewrite, policies and procedures every year as needed,
(h) Monitors conducts regular class works, organize Industry Visits , placement related
activities in coordination with Chairperson-Career Development and Placement Cell,
create an environment for industry institute interaction, coordinate R&D activities,
coordinate staff and external organization for R&D and consultancy, maintain discipline
among students and staff.
(i) Playing a key oversight role in accreditation, program review and other processes that are
important for continuous improvement of the college‟s activities
(j) Monitors smooth conduct of Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9000
(k) in addition there are various functions in which principal is directly involved for
conduction of examination, library, Students counseling, Academic Calendar & Course

 Coordinate with the faculty and visiting faculty.
 Issue notices to the students regarding change of class schedule, if any, short attendance,
or any other matter as may come up from time to time in consultation with the
Chairperson-PGDM.
 Arrangement of students fee-back and file the same for preparing report
 Prepare agenda for the PGDM Committee meeting
 Preparation of Minutes of PGDM Committee, Academic Council Meetings and Faculty
Council.
 Handle e-mails of the PGDM Office and act on it.
 Coordinate with the Controller of Examinations Office as and when required.
 Maintain students attendance file, PGDM Office files, records (such as Minutes of the
PGDM Committee, Academic Council and Faculty Council), and any other files
pertaining to PGDM office documents.
 Day-to-day correspondences and liaison with the other departments for smooth running
of the programme.
 Coordinate with the Class Monitors on various issues from time to time and report the
same to the Chairperson-PGDM.

1. Responsible and accountable for setting and advancing the academic planning of the
Department in line Institute strategic plans and direction
2. Develop and sustain appropriate structures for management, consultation, decision-making
and communication with staff and students
3. Ensure the best possible student experience through: the fulfillment of the Institute‟s

responsibilities concerning students in respect of their admission, and examination; and
adherence to the regulations and procedures of Faculties : refresh and develop new course
curriculum; Create a dynamic and forward looking research environment for both staff and

Research work entitled “Ecotourism and Environmental Sustainability: A Study on West
Bengal”, has been approved by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) New Delhi,

CMS , JIS College of Engineering. The title of the M.Phil thesis was “Sustainability of Network
