DO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ LEARNING

STYLES AFFECT THEIR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE?

INTRODUCTION (Jayra)

AQUINO: The teaching and learning styles of the classroom instructor and students have important
implications for effective teaching. For many years educational leaders have recognized the need for
alternative instructional approaches to meet the wide variety of students in classrooms. Teachers can
become frustrated knowing they are failing to meet the needs of a portion of students in their
classroom. Not being able to accommodate students’ unique learning styles is one of the many reasons
for this frequent problem.

BACKGROUND (Joize, Brigido)

RIVERA: Teachers need to be aware of the different teaching styles and the different learning styles of
the students so that students would be able to adjust to their own ways of learning and Their
connection to the academic performances of the students, Students will learn how to handle all of the
discussions in multiple subjects in one day. It is exhausting to learn every lesson in a day, and it is also
exhausting to teach students. So the researchers chose this study to learn how they handle each lesson
and how they teach students using any methods and strategies they have and are familiar with.

ACEBO: By having the opportunity to ask how it works and how it goes when teaching students, and
how the students handle the lessons every day of the week in a variety of subjects, as well as giving
them assignments and tests for a better education, system, curriculum and a better individual.

PREVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE (Summer, Ivan)

VELASCO: Learning style; was defined by Keefe in 1979 as “the composite of characteristic cognitive,
affective, and physiological factors that serve as relatively stable indicators of how a learner perceives,
interacts with, and responds to the learning environment”.

ABRAZALDO: Alavi and Toozandehjani (2017) concluded that having a background in the learning styles
of students can enhance their learning and at the same time help students strengthen self-actualization.
Teevan, Michael, and Schlesselman (2011) also emphasize that knowledge of the learning styles can help
facilitate teachers to employ suitable teaching strategies and methods to nurture students' academic
performance.
METHODOLOGY (Claire, Jb)

DE LEON: Descriptive correlational research will be used for this study. The study will gather information
from the SHS students of MMMHS. The method of purpose sampling will be used to develop the sample
of the research under discussion. Questionnaires are set of printed or written questions with choices of
answers It will provide the data needed about the learning styles. The survey is used to know the
students preferred learning styles. In this way, the instrument is authorized to obtain valid responses to
the student’s preferred learning styles.

ASUNCION: This instrument will give the researchers less cost of gathering data. Data analysis
procedures involve the use of statistical formulas such as frequency and percentage. Quantitative
analysis is helpful in evaluation because it provides quantifiable results and is easy to understand by
ordinary readers. It allows generalizations of results from a sample to an entire population of interest
and the measurement of the incidence of various views and opinions in a given sample.
