TEF PITCH

INTRO/VALUE

My name is *** the CEO of Tejuvik Farms. I am a graduate of *** from **** with over 3
years’ hands-on experience in snail farming.

THE PROBLEM /SOLUTION

Snails have good nutritional protein content and combines this with a very low fat content; this is
uncommon in most livestock/animal proteins. Furthermore, it is also rich in iron, calcium, vitamin A
and a number of other minerals. Tejuvik farm is a snail farm located in the southern part of Kaduna.
Our idea to raise snails in commercial scale came about in 2021 when we did a market survey and
realized 99 percent of hospitality businesses do not sell snail meat simply because there were no
snails to sell. The demand remained despite the absence of constant supply, and the few suppliers
that got snails from the southern parts of Nigeria especially Enugu sold exorbitantly after factoring in
the cost of transportation.

TRACTION
Tejuvik farms specializes in production and processing of snails for commercial purposes such as
meat, research, education, conservation and gaming. We usually start with the purchase of hatched
land snails, each can lay eggs between 3 and 6 times a year. It takes them roughly 12 months to
mature. We have over 50 customers mostly hotels and joints. We hope to double this clientele-base
after expansion

We sell at at an unbeatable price of 6500/kg for the washed and de-slimed giant snails equivalent
to 20 matured snails. We made sales of over 60kg at the last harvest and our estimated
profitability after expansion stands at 25.21%, up considerably from the 14% we had prior.

THE ASK

We are pitching for 5000 dollars from the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship
Foundation to: 25 Hutch boxes, 40 bags of specially formulated, 5 Humidity meters, 50 pieces of
high quality breeding snails, oven dryer and a deep freezer

POTENTIAL IMPACT

The potential impacts of having the needs above met are as follows:

- It will enable us almost triple our revenue as well as enable us take

advantage of our unused farm space.
- It will also enable us to employ two more workers and increase our number
of repeat customers over 100.
- Buying the oveN and freezer will also help us eliminate wastage of already
processed snail meat which we use to have prior.

Thank you for listening!

Number of snails = 50, Average no of eggs laid per time = 90, Total snails available every 4 months = 50
x 90 = 4,500 (Assuming 10% mortality we would have 4,025 every 2 months)
Profitability = Annual net-profit/revenue x 100/1 = 3,924,375 – 2,935,000/3,924,375 x 100/1 =
989,375/3,924,375 x 100/1 = 25.21%
Annual revenue = (4,025/20 x 6500 x 3 cycles) = 3,924,375

Cost = cost of snails + Salaries and Overhead = (4,500 snails x 30naira/snail x 3 cycles/year) + (85,000
monthly salary x 12months) + Feed = 405,000 + 1,020,000 + 1,510,000 =2,935,000
