Describe the key differences between Projects and Business-As-Usual

(BAU). Make five relevant points.

• The project may bring a unique change or new product, but BAU would
aim to replicate it. This may be a brand-new IT system being created to
boost operational effectiveness, and BAU would use it once it was made
available.
This indicates that initiatives have a substantially higher probability of
failure than BAU.

• Projects are temporary deliveries made over a limited time period to

accomplish a particular purpose, while business as usual would refer to the
routine daily operations for an already-available item or service.
Therefore, the design of a new IT system, for instance, would be a project,
but the system's operation would be BAU.

• Projects have particular plans that are carried out; these plans are often
customised and made to suit the project's deliverables. Every project is
unique. Business as usual is followed by internal policies and processes
that keep the company running.
As a result, project managers must be able to create and carry out plans
efficiently.
