Shell is hosting a 5K fundraising event to launch new campaign, S.H.E.L.L.

It’s no secret that climate change has become more and more threatening with each passing day,
but what are we doing to stop it? One company in particular has been going above and beyond
since April 2020 when they announced a new plan to become a net-zero emissions energy
business by 2050 or sooner. The company in question, Shell, has surpassed all of its competitors
to combat climate change early on with its new campaign S.H.E.L.L. As a kickoff event, Shell is
hosting a 5K fundraising walk, followed by a picnic and the debut of the new campaign.

“We are excited to introduce our new sustainability campaign,” says Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell.
“This campaign is our biggest event in our existence because of the main product we are hoping
to gain from it which is a better future of sustainable, humanity, eco-friendly, and long-lasting
fuel on our planet to combat climate change.”

The event will take place on June 17 starting at 10:30 a.m., with the 5K beginning at 11 a.m. and
running until 6:30 p.m. and it is open to all. It will take place at the scenic Buffalo Bayou Loop
in Houston, Texas.

There’s no limit to the amount registered and participants can choose to either register in person
at the start of the event or pre-register online at shell.com/5kwalk. Registration starts at 10:30
a.m. and ends at 11 a.m. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for everyone aged 60 and over, as
well as anyone aged 17 and below. All funds raised will go to sustainability efforts.

At the end of the walk, Shell will debut its new campaign with a never before seen ad promoting.
Afterwards, participants will be able to enjoy a picnic provided by Shell. Andrew Mackenzie,

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shell, said, “S.H.E.L.L. is trying to create more awareness
about its significant contribution to the oil industry while raising money to work towards a better
future of net-zero emissions, the end goal of the whole campaign.”
