Significance of the study

This research study is made with the aim to provide knowledge based on the topic
that had been chosen.
Through this research, readers will realize the importance of waste management
practices. People may also consider waste management as a help to improve air and water
quality as well as to reduce its harmful effects to the environment, and their health.
This section outlines the several justifications for the study's main points.
Specifically, the findings of this research will benefit the following:
Barangay Officials. This study would help them know the residents’ practices in solid
waste management, and it would serve as a guide for them to create a program concerned
with Waste Management. Through this, Barangay Officials or Barangay Libtong would
be able to seek-out answers and information on how to aid the problems of their society
regarding Solid Waste Management.
Community. This study will help the community to have a better, and deeper
understanding about the programs and activities that the Barangay Officials are making.
This study will make them more responsible in regards of managing waste that would
come up to a better way of handling waste materials.
Future Researchers. This study may be used to expand their knowledge about the
practices on how to properly manage solid waste materials. This may also serve as a
reference, and guide for the future researchers in conducting their own research study that
is related to solid waste management.

Scope and Limitation


Generally, the main concern of this study is to have knowledge as regards
perceptions, and practices of selected residents in Barangay Libtong, Roxas, Oriental
Mindoro about solid waste management. Specifically, biodegradable, non-biodegradable,
and recyclable wastes. Furthermore, it aims to talk about the possible causes and effects
of improper waste disposal, and their different ways of disposing solid waste materials.
Data collection is conducted with the use of structured survey questionnaire, and
interview. It is used in order to gather data needed from the selected respondents. The
researchers seek to acquire knowledge, and information through handling of interview
with reference to solid waste management. Moreover, the collecting of data will range by
the amount of trash measured within the year 2021-2022, to gather crucial facts, and
answers in a short period of time.
This study does not include liquid waste, and is limited to the residents of
Barangay Libtong, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro within the boundaries. The respondents were
the residents with the age of sixteen (16) and above. The researcher limited the
respondents with the total of fifteen (15) randomly selected residents in Barangay
Libtong, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro.
