B - Lotion C - Shorts H -Stove F - Car

Hair Gel T-shirt Washing machine
Soap Underwear Refrigerator

Answer the ff. questions

1. Which among the categories you have the most in your list?
 It's almost as if it's related to my body. There are three categories: body, clothing,
and home. For the house, there is only one item. I make almost everything equal
for myself and my family.

2. What do you think these things tell you about yourself?

 These things indicate that I am concerned about our home, where my family and I
reside. If I have a debit card, I want my family to be at ease with our home for the
things I like to buy. I am also concerned about the state of my family, and it is my
priority to make their lives better. To be honest, this is usually all I need in my
daily life. I'm not the type of person who buys things unless they're absolutely
necessary at the time.

2. Make a research on the role of Filipino Consumer culture to Filipino self and identity.

ROLE OF FILIPINO CONSUMER CULTURE TO FILIPINO SELF & IDENTITY

INTRODUCTION

Cultural interaction and influence amongst individuals from all over the world have never been easier
because to the emergence of media and technology in recent decades. That, without a doubt, extends to
the marketing side of things as well. We Filipinos have been influenced by other cultures in almost every
aspect of our daily lives since the dawn of Philippine civilization, and our role as an average consumer in
the marketplace is no exception. We have established a wide network of connections with people of
different cultures coming from other neighboring countries, and we have been influenced by other
cultures in almost every aspect of our daily lives, and our role as an average consumer in the
marketplace is no exception.

We, as Filipino consumers, have a tendency to consider our own material desires and preferences, which
are often influenced and affected by external circumstances, while making a purchase decision, whether
for personal or functional purposes. And the wants that we seek in order to satisfy our desire for self-
satisfaction and gratification are usually influenced by our own specific Filipino culture, and are thus
linked to our personal identity and how we and others regard ourselves as individuals in every way.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

We all have our own likes, tastes, and desires. We have a tendency to attach our personal desires that
spring out of our inner selves that is always on the never-ending search for fulfillment of our own
personal wants, as Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs seeks to imply, to whatever foods we eat,
what type of clothing we wear, what genre of music we listen to, and so on. As humans, we tend to
combine the superficial and material impulses that the Id creates into our conduct, as Freud noted in his
philosophical idea of Psychoanalysis. Given the nature of humans as sentient beings with a sense of
materialism to some degree, this alone can have a tremendous impact on how we think, act, view the
world through our own eyes, and, most crucially, how we prefer certain things over others.

IX. REFLECTION:
Make a reflection paper about your material self. You may use your answers on the above
questions in making your paper.

 For me, the material self is all about the things we admire and buy to satisfy us. There is nothing
wrong with satisfying your material desires. In fact, it is a natural part of being alive. It is human
nature to seek pleasure in things. However, this should not be a priority. Material things are less
important than feeding the other aspects. Furthermore, if you prioritize your material self over
other aspects, such as your spiritual self, you will experience a sense of emptiness. There will be
a hole in your heart that no material thing can fill. So, before you feed your material self, feed
your spiritual self-first. It's like putting the inner pieces of your life together first before putting
the outer pieces together.
