Vishakha Guidelines- 1997

Section 354A of the Indian Penal Code defines sexual harassment and prescribes a penalty of 3 years’
imprisonment with/without fine

 By adopting the Vishakha Guidelines and recommendations of Justice Verma Committee, the
Parliament enacted the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention,
Prohibition and Redressal) Rules, 2013 SHWW(PPR) Act in 2013, to be read with
Rules, 2013, effective since December 2013
