On March 2 2020, Manila Mayor

Isko Moreno Domagoso has signed
ordinance appropriating P 49 million for
establishing a cemetery for deceased
muslim residents of the Nationan's
capital, apportioning 2,400 square
meters of land at the Manila South
Cemetery, construction of a cultural hall,
creation of a special body for its
operationalization and provision of
plantilla items for hiring of its personnel.

The Mayor was joined by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna

Pangan , Majority Floor Leader Joel Chua and
memebers of the Manila City Council.

 The City government of Manila conducted a series of stakeholders consultation that was comprised of
islamic scholars , imams, participation of manila consituents and later on realized shortly a year after, on June
7 2021, the first muslim cemetery in the nations capital, and the first government run muslim cemetery in the
country was inaugurated.

APPROPRIATIONS
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) shall be entered into by the LGU and
Department of Social Welfare and DEvelopment (DSWD) under its
Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Protective Services
Program to provide subsidy for burial assistance to defray expenses on
brininging remains to the burial site and other related expenses in
accordance with existing muslim customary practices and to ensure
expeditious process subject to the programs general policies.
