Size US 4/3.5mm needles, US 3/3.25mm needles,
and US E/3.5mm crochet hook or size needed to
obtain gauge

GAUGE
24 sts and 30 rows = 4”/10cm over Rev St st

BACK
Using larger ndls, CO 116 (128, 142, 154, 168) sts. Work in Rev St st for 2”, ending with a WS row. Dec 1 st each
end every 12th row 7 (7, 4, 5, 2) times, then every 10th row 2 (2, 6, 5, 9) times – 98 (110, 122, 134, 146) sts. Work
even until piece meas 18 (18, 18 ½, 19, 19 ½ )” from beg, ending with a WS row. Shape armholes: BO 6 (6, 7, 4, 4)
sts at beg of next 2 (2, 2, 4, 2) rows, then 0 (0, 0, 0, 3) sts at beg of foll 0 (0, 0, 0, 4) rows. Dec 1 st each end of row

LEFT FRONT
Using larger ndls, CO 59 (65, 72, 78, 85) sts. Work in Rev St st for 2”, ending with a WS row. Dec 1 st at beg of
row every 12th row 7 (7, 4, 5, 2) times, then every 10th row 2 (2, 6, 5, 9) times – 50 (56, 62, 68, 74) sts. Work even
until piece meas same as Back to underarm, ending with a WS row. Shape armhole: BO 6 (6, 7, 4, 4) sts at beg of
next 1 (1, 1, 2, 1) RS rows, then 0 (0, 0, 0, 3) sts at beg of foll 0 (0, 0, 0, 2) RS rows. Dec 1 st at beg of RS row every
4 (4, 4, 2, 2) rows 6 (10, 12, 10, 12) times, then every 0 (0, 0, 4, 4) rows 0 (0, 0, 5, 5) times – 38 (40, 43, 45, 47) sts –
and AT THE SAME TIME, when piece meas 22 ½ (23, 24, 24 ½, 25 ½)”, shape front neck: at beg of next WS row,
BO 9 sts once, then 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) sts at beg of next 2 WS rows, then dec 1 st at beg of every WS row 6 (8, 9, 8, 8)
times – 15 (15, 17, 18, 20) sts rem. Work even, if necessary, until piece meas same as Back to shoulder, ending with a
WS row. BO 5 (5, 6, 6, 7) sts at beg of next 3 (3, 2, 3, 2) RS rows, then 0 (0, 5, 0, 6) sts at beg of foll RS row. Fasten
off.

RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front, reversing shaping.

SLEEVES (make 2)
Using smaller ndls, provisionally CO 72 (74, 80, 84, 88)
sts. Work in Rev St st for 5”, ending with a WS row.
Unravel CO and return live sts to spare ndl. Hold-
ing these sts parallel to and behind LH ndl, p tog 1 st
from back ndl with 1 st from front ndl across row to
create hem. Change to larger ndl and cont in Rev St st
without shaping until sleeve meas 17” from folded edge
or desired length to underarm, ending with a WS row.
Shape cap: BO 6 (6, 7, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 (2, 2, 4,
2) rows, then 0 (0, 0, 0, 3) sts at beg of foll 0 (0, 0, 0, 4)
rows. Dec 1 st each end of row every other row 9 (9, 8,
10, 8) times, then every 4th row 4 (4, 5, 4, 5) times – 34
(36, 40, 40, 42) sts. BO 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then
3 sts at beg of foll 2 rows, then BO rem 24 (26, 30, 30,
32) sts.

LEFT FRONT PLACKET


Using larger ndls, CO 17 (17, 17, 19 19) sts. Work even
in Rev St st until piece meas same as Left Front to beg
of neck shaping, ending with a RS row. BO 9 st at beg
of next row, then 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) sts at beg of foll 2 WS
rows.

RIGHT FRONT PLACKET


Work as for Left Front Placket, reversing shaping.

FINISHING
Note: Sew all seams to the OUTSIDE, that is, with seam allowance visible on RS of garment. Sew shoulder
seams. Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew front plackets on top of fronts, matching neck shaping.
(Note that purl side is RS on both placket and body.) Work 3 rows of sc along bottom edge, 1 row along front and
neck edge. If desired, work 1 row of sc along bottom of sleeve edge. Weave in ends; block lightly. Sew on buttons,
four evenly spaced along either side of fronts to match photo.
