EXPERIMENT NO:
TITLE:
Study the friction between two surfaces and the forces on an inclined plane.
DIAGRAM:

THINGS REQUIRED:
1. An Inclined Plane
2. A String/Thread
3. A Steel Pan
4. A Set Of Weight Box
5. A Movable Pulley 6. An Adjuster

ROCEDURE:
Step 1 Take the inclined plane apparatus & keep it to horizontal surface and put the slider box on it.
Step 2 Increase the inclination of inclined board gradually till the sliders just begin to slide downwards
on it. Note the angle in this position. Therefore it called Angle of Repose.

Step 3 Again Place the slider on the plane with the desired angle α.
Step 4 Tie the slider to the pan with the help of thread passing over the pulley.
Step 5 Put the weight in the pan till the slider just start moving.
Step 6 Note down the weights and observations.
Step 7 Measure the angle of inclination from the ruler provided & finds the value of μ.
Step 8. Then Calculate the M.A., V.R. & Efficiency (%).
OBSERVATIONS:
• Total weight of the slider, W (grams): Weight of the slider box + Added weights in the
slider box (optional)
• Total weight in the pan, P (grams) = Weight of the pan + Weight in the pan
• T = Trolley
