    grandmother (Maria) and great-
    grandmother (Alexandra). The father
    decided that the first name of the
    daughter was "like the duchess" (his
    wife)

    The future queen was engaged in
    swimming. For the first time,
    Elizabeth II publicly spoke to her
    people when the Second World War
    began. She was then only fourteen
    years old.

    joined the Auxiliary Territorial
