Use the chart below to write your new vocabulary in a notebook .

It helps you find other related words and find


out how new words are created from one root by adding prefixes and/or suffixes. This method is an easy way to get self-
studied-word; a sort of your own dictionary filled with word you know and use effectively.

If you’re not good at phonetics yet, you can write pronunciations in your way, but put them into square brackets like this:
[YOUZE]

Before you begin, how many new words have you discovered in the paragraph above? How about “self-studied-word”?
Complete the chart from number 2, 3 and all your new word from Touchstone book and others.

You can also add other columns if necessary.

Notice the endings (suffixes) of the words in the chart: tion, ness, ing,…
