GENERAL GUIDELINES ON DISSERTATION FOR THE STUDENTS

OF BACHELORS OF COMMERCE (H) PROGRAM

The Dissertation Mentor’s primary responsibility is to effectively guide and encourage
students to unleash their research capabilities. A mentor is expected to facilitate a student’s
intellectual growth, guide throughout the project and ensure the maintenance of high
academic and research standards during the project.
A DISSERTATION Mentor is required to perform the following activities:
 On receiving the DISSERTATION Allocation Sheet, the mentor is required to form a
group of the assigned students through all possible channels of communication and
inform mentees about the preparation and submission of the Dissertation Project
Report.
 The DISSERTATION Mentor must prepare a list of possible topics on the assigned
specialization and float the same in the allocated student group.
 The DISSERTATION Mentor must further ask the students to select a topic of their
choice and start working on the same.
 The DISSERTATION Mentor must establish communication regularly with their
assigned students and track their progress from time to time.
 To maintain continuity in the flow of the preparation OF DISSERTATION Project
Report, the DISSERTATION Mentor must ensure progress of the mentee students
and record the same in the prescribed format shared with the mentee students. All
assigned mentors to ensure compliance with the same.
The primary responsibility of a DISSERTATION Mentee is to ensure that best efforts are put
to complete the DISSERTATION Project Report on time. The student should be well
disposed towards the advice from their respective DISSERTATION Mentors, ensure
completion of all assigned task related to the DISSERTATION Project Report by the
assigned deadlines.
A DISSERTATION Mentee is required to perform the following activities:
 After the information related to the preparation of the DISSERTATION Project
Report is floated by the mentor, each mentee has to choose a suitable topic from the
list of topics shared with them by the mentor.
 Each DISSERTATION Mentee has to get the assigned topic communicated to their
respective Dissertation Mentor which has to be subsequently approved by the
DISSERTATION Mentor.
 Once the topic gets approved, the DISSERTATION Mentee has to start searching the
relevant data and information related to his/her assigned topic.
 The DISSERTATION Mentee has to communicate his/her progress to the assigned
DISSERTATION Mentor from time to time to ensure timely completion of the
DISSERTATION Project Report.
 Any discrepancy in terms of the choice of topic, overlapping of topic with other
mentee student, any other relevant matter needs to be brought to the notice of the
Dissertation Mentor and the same must be amicably settled.
