“How are you today?” “We are fine and super happy, Ma’am!”

“I am glad to hear that, Class!”

Prayer
“Before anything else, let us pray and ask
guidance with our Heavenly Father. Anyone “Amber, Ma’am!”
who would like to lead the prayer?”

“Please stand in front, you may now begin.” “Let’s bow our head and feel the presence of
the Lord.”
“Father God, as we start this new day for
new learning, we ask for Your guidance. Lead
us all the way. May You let us see through
Your eyes, listen through Your ears, and
speak with Your mouth. Be with us as we
explore the world. Give us the heart to love

REVIEW THE PREVIOUS LESSON-

“Before we continue our topic let’s have first
a short recap on our topic last meeting.”
“Can someone tell me what we tackled last
meeting.”
“Cedric ma’am”
“Okay Cedric.”

“Last meeting, we read a short story which is

all of you are now ready to answer my

“Great Job, class”

“So therefore, I conclude that heat is

temperature to an object of lower
temperature.”

“Here are the main points to consider as we

continue to discuss our topic for today:”
Big Idea “The sun ma’am.”

“What is our main source of heat class?”

“Very good!” “Solar energy ma’am.”

“We get most of energy from the sun, which

is called what?”
“Very good class.”

Solar energy is the power of the

sun harnessed by humans for various
purposes, such as heating, lighting, and
electricity. It travels to Earth in the form of
rays, in which some are visible while other
are not.
“So now, let’s proceed to Heat and
Temperature.”
“Heat is thermal energy that flows between
Let’s focus first about Heat. bodies or regions due to temperature
difference, hence it is considered energy in
transit, ma’am.
What is heat, class?

Very good.
And heat causes molecules to move. All forms
of matter are made of atom and molecules
these atoms and molecules are always in (student’s answer may vary)
motion and they have kinetic energy.
“Class, have you ever heard of the term
“thermal energy” before?”

“Thermal energy refers to the energy

contained within a system that is responsible
for its temperature. Heat is the flow of
thermal energy.” Solid, Liquid, and Gas ma’am.
What are the three types of matter?
Correct!
(Teacher explain)

When thermal energy transformed heat is

always produced. For example, the energy
that is transferred from the boiling coffee to
the mug and metal spoon is called heat.
Therefore, heat is the following:

 Flow of thermal energy

 Energy in transit
 Heat transfer continues until all
bodies affected reach the same
temperature or thermal equilibrium Yes ma’am.
 SI unit Kelvin
Did you understand, class?
Temperature refers to the degree of hotness
or coldness, ma’am.
Now, what is temperature?
Very good! And it measures of the average
energy of the motions of the molecules in the
substance.

What equipment can be used to measure “Thermometer ma’am.”

temperature?

Correct! A thermometer is an instrument

that measures temperature. It can measure
the temperature of a solid such as food, a
liquid such as water, or a gas such as air.

“The Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin scales

are used to measure temperature, ma’am.”
What are the three scales to measure the
temperature?
Well said! Very good!

The SI unit for temperature is Joules.

Temperature is a measure of the average
kinetic energy of the particles in a substance.
Always remember that heat and temperature
are different from each other. In summary,
heat is a form of energy and temperature is a
measure of energy.
Heat is always from a hot substance (higher
temperature) to a cold substance (lower
temperature).
“Yes ma’am”
Did you understand class?
Now let’s proceed to Modes of Heat Transfer

(student’s answer may vary)

Do you have any idea about heat transfer
class? Anyone from the class.
Very good! An example of this is boiling
water for hot milk or hot chocolate for
breakfast. The energy from the flame is
transferred to the pan and water.
“Conduction, Convection, and Radiation,
ma’am.”
There are three methods of heat transfer.

PART II. THE SEARCH IS ON

Direction: Look for the words being described in each of the statements.

1. Instrument used in measuring the temperature of an object.

2. It describes the hotness or coldness of a body.
3. A material that allows the transfer of heat easily.
4. Thermal energy that is in transit.
5. Mode of heat transfer that does not need particles or a medium to take place.
6. A material that does not allow the transfer of heat easily.
7. The transfer of heat through a fluid (liquid or gas) caused by molecular motion.
8. A transfer of heat from one substance to another by direct contact.

3. EVALUATION
Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities
“Now we are done with our lesson for
today, you will take a short quiz to
evaluate you if you really understand the
topic. I will give you 5 mins to answer it.
Reminder class, read the instructions
carefully.”
“Yes ma’am”
“Is that clear class?” Complete Me!
Direction: Read the paragraph and choose
the appropriate word/s from the box that
will complete the given sentences. Write

All objects, even ordinary ones, gives off heat

into the surroundings. (1) ___________ is
energy that is transferred from one object to
another due to their difference in their
temperature and it is simply called as (2)
____________. (3) ____________ refers to
the hotness or coldness of a substance,
which can be measured using an instrument
called (4) ____________. Heat can be
transferred in (5)___________ ways through
(6) __________, (7) __________ and (8)
_______. Heat is said to be transferred
through (9) ______________ when heat is
directly transferred through a material,
however not all materials can transfer heat.
Materials that conduct heat poorly are
known as (10) ________ while materials
that conduct heat well are called (11)
______________. Another way to transfer
heat is through the movement of fluids such
as liquid and gases between areas of
different temperature, this is called (12)
_____. Unlike other mode of heat transfer,
(13) _____________ is a heat transfer in the
absence of matter or through space where
objects with dark surfaces absorbed more
heat than objects with bright surfaces.

4. EXTEND (Take home Activity)

This take-home activity entitled “GIVE ME EXAMPLES “

Give at least one scenario for each method of heat transfer (Conduction, Convection,
Radiation) which you can observe taking place at home or in your neighborhood. For
example: Conduction - a metal spoon becomes hot from the boiling water inside the cup
as I make coffee.
