17-year-old Wendy’s drive-through worker shot

LYNN, Mass. Feb. 14, 2023 - A 17-year-old Wendy’s employee was shot in the shoulder
last night around 6 p.m. in the Wendy’s drive-through while working the window.

Police responded to the incident quickly, but the suspect had fled by the time they arrived. They
are now working to identify the suspect. Police have taped off access to the Wendy’s restaurant,
located on Boston Road, in order to investigate the scene.

The victim, who has not been identified due to his age, was shot in the shoulder through the
window. He was transported to Mass. General Hospital and is expected to recover from his
injuries.

One other person in the restaurant had superficial wounds but refused any kind of medical
treatment.

Video surveillance footage from the restaurant shows what appears to be two bullet holes in the
Wendy’s drive-through window and glass on the ground.

An employee from a nearby Burger King restaurant told police that the shooter was in a car
parked in the drive-through at the time of the shooting.

Police do not know the motive of the crime at this time, nor do they know if the victim was
serving the suspect in the drive-through.

There were multiple families located in the restaurant at the time, but it seems that no one else
was hurt.

There are no known threats to the community at this time, but police are encouraging anyone
who may know or who may have seen anything to report it to the police immediately. The
shooter has not been located but police are encouraging the community to help locate anyone
involved in the shooting.
