APPARATUS :
Klystron Power Supply, Klystron tube, Klystron mount, Isolator, Variable attenuator,
Frequency-Meter, Wave-meter, Match termination, Detector mount, probe, magic tee,etc.
Learning Objective:
1) To know the difference between low frequency and high frequency Measurement
Techniques.
2) To study magic Tee.
3) To study application of magic tee as an Isolator.

Observation Table:
Incident voltage at H-Arm = 1V = Vin
Voltage across output at E-arm when Port-1and Port-2 are terminated with perfect match=2mV
=Vout
Isolation Coefficient(dB)= 20 log (Vout/Vin) = -53.9794 dB < -15 dB
Incident voltage at E-Arm= 1V = Vin
Voltage across output at H-arm when Port-1and Port-2 are terminated with perfect match= 2mV
=Vout
Isolation Coefficient(dB)= 20 log (Vout/Vin) = -53.9794 dB < -15 dB
Result:
Isolation Coefficient (dB)= -53.9794 dB
Conclusions:
In this experiment, applications of Magic tee as an isolator were studied. The junction
where all the four ports are perfectly matched is called as Magic Tee Junction.
An E-H Plane Tee junction is formed by attaching two simple waveguides
one parallel and the other series, to a rectangular waveguide which already
has two ports. This is also called as Magic Tee, or Hybrid or 3dB coupler.
E-H Plane junction is used to measure the impedance − A null detector is connected to E-
Arm port while the Microwave source is connected to H-Arm port. The collinear ports
together with these ports make a bridge and the impedance measurement is done by
