MAIN LANDING GEAR SELECTOR VALVE - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. Removal/Installation

(Figure 201)

A. Remove Selector Valve

Equipment and Material

Fluid container, one−gallon capacity

Lockwire − Specification MS20995C32

(1) Remove the external electrical power (refer to Chapter 12).

(2) Remove right main landing gear wheel bin (refer to Chapter 53).

(3) Observe hydraulic fluid safety precautions (refer to Chapter 29).

(4) Release hydraulic pressure (refer to Chapter 12).

WARNING: WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN YOU CUT THE LOCKWIRE. WHEN
THE LOCKWIRE IS CUT, PIECES CAN HIT YOUR EYES AND CAUSE
INJURY.

(5) Remove and discard lockwire and disconnect electrical connector (3). Install
protective cover and tie back to prevent contamination from fluid.

(6) Position container under hydraulic lines to collect spillage.

(7) Disconnect hydraulic lines (4), (7), (9), (10) and (12). Install protective covers to all
open lines and ports.

(8) Remove three bolts (1) and washers (2), bolt (5) and washer (6).

(9) Remove selector valve (15) complete with union (13).

(10) Remove union (13) and preformed packing (14) from selector valve (15). Discard
preformed packing.

B. Install Selector Valve

Equipment and Material

Wrench, Torque, 20 to 25 lb in (2.26 to 2.82 Nm), commercially available

Wrench, Torque 25 to 35 lb in (2.83 to 3.95 Nm), commercially available

Wrench, Torque, 100 to 140 lb in (11.30 to 15.81 Nm), commercially available

Wrench, Torque, 150 to 195 lb in (16.95 to 22.03 Nm), commercially available

Wrench, Torque, 161 to 178 lb in (18.20 to 20.11 Nm), commercially available

Wrench, Torque, 22.50 to 29.17 lb ft (30.51 to 39.54 Nm), commercially available

(1) Position selector valve complete with T−piece (8) on hydraulic beam and install
three bolts (1) and washers (2), bolt (5) and washer (6). Torque the bolts (1) and (5)
from 20 to 25 lb in (2.26 to 2.82 Nm) (refer to Chapter 20).

(2) Remove protective covers and install union (13) and preformed packing (14).
Torque the union from 161 to 178 lb in (13.42 to 14.83 Nm) (refer to Chapter 20).

(3) Connect hydraulic lines (4), (7), (9), (10) and (12) to their respective ports.

CAUTION: READ THE TORQUE VALUES CAREFULLY. SOME ARE POUND


INCHES (LB IN) AND SOME ARE POUND FEET (LB FT). IF YOU
TORQUE INCORRECTLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE
COMPONENTS.

(4) Torque hydraulic lines (4) and (10) from 22.50 to 29.17 lb ft (30.51 to 39.54
Nm)(refer to Chapter 20).

(5) Torque hydraulic line (7) from 100 to 140 lb in (11.30 to 15.81 Nm)(refer to Chapter
20).

(6) Torque hydraulic lines (9) and (12) from 150 to 195 lb in (16.95 to 22.03 Nm) (refer
to Chapter 20).

WARNING: WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN YOU CUT THE LOCKWIRE. WHEN
THE LOCKWIRE IS CUT, PIECES CAN HIT YOUR EYES AND CAUSE
INJURY.

(7) Remove protective cover, install electrical connector (3) and lockwire.

(8) Apply external electrical power (refer to Chapter 12).

(9) Bleed No. 3 hydraulic system (refer to Chapter 29).

(10) Carry out functional test of landing gear extension and retraction system (refer to
EXTENSION AND RETRACTION − MAINTENANCE PRACTICES).

(11) Check for hydraulic leaks.

(12) Install right main landing gear wheel bin (refer to Chapter 53).

2. Inspection/Check

A. Restoration of the Main Landing Gear Selector Valve

NOTE: This procedure is applicable only to main landing gear selector valve part
number 61750 and 61750−1.

(1) Remove selector valve (refer to paragraph 1.A.)

(2) Send the selector valve to the vendor for replacement of the two aluminum end
caps part number 34629.

(3) Install selector valve (refer to paragraph 1.B.)
