Launching/Orientation of the KINDERGARTEN Storytellers (KIs) Club

“Storytelling is the greatest technology that human have created”-Jon Westernberg

In connection with the celebration of the National Book Month, one of the highlights of the
approved Division-initiated project was the launching of Kindergarten Storytellers (KiS) Club. Its
primary aim is to provide children with opportunities to be read to or told stories to. The Molosbolos
Elementary School launched the said project last November 28, 2018. It was participated by the
different stakeholders like the Brgy. Officials of Molosbolos, Libon, Albay headed by Asuncion S.
Concepcion, GPTA president, Lolita P. Ibeas, parents, teachers and other NGO’s.
It was started at exactly 8:00 a.m. with a prayer led by Princess Jana M. Obedece a Grade
VI pupil and followed by the singing of Philippine National Anthem by Jennifer M. Saysay a Grade I
adviser. Mrs. Jaimer T. Sergio was given a task to present the participants of the said activity and
in behalf of the GPTA President Mrs. Gigi S. Sasota gave her welcome remarks. It was followed by
the inspirational talk of the Brgy. Kagawad Florenia S. Payson, Committee on Education.
The orientation of the project was given by yours truly, Richard L. Guanzon, kindergarten
teacher. All the participants were properly oriented by the objectives, mechanics and guidelines of
the said project. It was followed right after by ceremonial launching. The 1 st storyteller was Richard
L. Guanzon. The story chosen was a 2001 grand prize winner with a title “Bakit Matagal ang Sundo
Ko?” The kinder pupils were very active as the storyteller started the session. The story was also
related to their day to day experience that’s why they were very attentive during storytelling
session.
Another part of the program is the releasing of balloons which participated by the teachers
of Molosbolos Elementary School and all the invited guests. They also signed their names in the
pledge of commitment which promises to support schools’ initiative in promoting children love for
listening and reading eventually. They also commit themselves in sharing their time and effort to be
storytellers not just for one day but for a lifetime.
