ESSAY WRITING

Requirement #1. Define the following words below with your own words/ideas:

1. Performance Measurement – It is the process of collecting, analyzing, and reporting

information about the performance of an organization or business, primarily its employees’ work
performance or a specific process and business activity. It is used to monitor and evaluate the
effectiveness and efficiency of strategy and objectives implemented throughout the organization
or business by measuring the level of their performance based on their operations and afterwards,
to identify areas for improvement based on the results reflected on the performance evaluation
tool. Furthermore, it serves as a feedbacking tool between the immediate head and employee
based on their performance.

2. Cost of Quality – Refers to the total cost incurred by an organization to prevent, detect, and
correct defects or non-conformance in its products or services. It includes the costs of prevention,
appraisal, internal and external failure, and the cost of lost opportunities due to poor quality.

3. ISO 9000 – It is a family of international standards that provide guidelines for quality
management systems. Specifically, an independent and non-governmental organization. It is
designed to help organizations ensure that their products and services meet customer and
regulatory requirements, and that they continuously improve their processes. The standard
emphasizes a process-based approach to quality management.

4. Quality Awards – These are recognition programs that are designed to promote and reward
excellence in quality management. These awards are typically given to organizations that
demonstrate outstanding performance in areas such as customer satisfaction, leadership, process
management, and continuous improvement. Some well-known quality awards include the
Deming Prize, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and the European Foundation for
Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Award.

Requirement #2. Using the above words select at least 1 and use it for evaluating your performance as a
student with the implementation of the new normal (modular, online, face-to-face classes). How did you
measure both student and teacher performance in the implementation of the flexible learning system
which is applied to your current learning today.

Answer: Based on the definitions above, I think the most valuable and applicable tool of evaluating my
performance as a student with the implementation of the new normal is the performance measurement.
With the use of performance measurement tool, I can assess my current and previous knowledge and
skills through the given assessments, quizzes, and assignments and compare the results. Additionally,
learning analytics tools (e.g., Google classroom) can be used or serves a basis to track my performance
and know my level of participation within the flexible learning systems as well. This provides me insights
into how am I progressing through a certain course. Regular feedback, such as comments on assignments
or discussion forums, can also help me understand what areas need to improve and how I can do so to
further enhance my performance. Generally, from comparing my previous and present scores to
comprehending the feedbacks of my performance, I can easily identify what factors that drive my
performance positively and negatively.
To use the performance measurement tool in evaluating my overall performance, I use the
following major factors: Outcomes, Behavior, and Attendance. First, for the outcomes, I measure how am
I doing well in class reporting, oral and written activity, time management, level of learning after
assessment, and flexibility to adapt the new normal education. Based on my previous and recent
performance in terms of outcomes, I can confidently say that I’m doing at my best because my scores are
not bad as well as how I actively participate in class. Secondly, for my behavior, I measure my
interpersonal skills through doing teamwork and cooperation especially in group activities, how I eagerly
make my homework, and in terms of my personality since this can affect my learning. From my behavior
recently, I think I haven’t done things that can drag my performance since all my results are productive.
Lastly, for my attendance which includes punctuality, this factor also affects my performance because
based on my first and only tardiness (less than 10 mins. late) on one of my subject last semester it affects
my eagerness to participate in class. This is because I’ve missed the beginning of discussion that I cannot
follow the flow already.
I measure both the student and teacher performance in the implementation of the flexible learning
system which is applied to my current learning today by student performance in terms of their
assessments and evaluations of their work. This can include exams, quizzes, essays, and other
assignments that test their knowledge and skills. Additionally, learning analytics tools can be used to
track student progress and engagement within the flexible learning system. In contrast, in the teacher’s
performance measure is their performance in terms of evaluations of their teaching effectiveness. This can
include surveys from students - the google form we’ve been answering to assess their performance -,
evaluations from peers or supervisors, and assessments of the quality of their instructional materials.
Feedback system from students can also provide insights into both student and teacher performance.
Regular feedback from students on their experiences with the flexible learning system can help instructors
and administrators identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments. Attendance and
participation can also be used to measure student and teacher performance. Tracking attendance and
participation in online classes (google classroom) or face-to-face classes can provide insights into the
level of engagement and involvement of both students and teachers in the flexible learning system.
