This week mainly consisted of a Movie/Book review assignment where we had to evaluate a

movie with 3 or more leaders involved. Since we were required to look for 3 leaders, where most movies
have one or two leaders that are the “good guys” which made us evaluate the “bad guys” for their
leadership abilities. In the reviews, I noticed that many people used the bad guy for their evaluation. The
bad guys are often overlooked due to the fact that they are inherently “bad.” However, these bad guys
are able to lead people in ways that others haven’t. They typically influence a group of people through
sparking emotions within of hatred or inspiring a common goal amongst the followers.

The guest speaker on Thursday showed perspective issues as a leader. A big picture allows you
to see the overall goal of the organization and allows you to see other helping branches within the
organization. However, a salesman or a general laborer only sees a small portion such as one tree. And
the middle managers that get to see a path and great detail within their field but doesn’t see outside.
She stressed the importance of autonomy, which is highly important for all of these different
perspectives to work autonomously instead of making them work together.
