Location
▪ Andorra is an small independent European
coprincipality situated among the southern peaks
of the Pyrenees Mountains and bounded by France
to the north and east and by Spain to the south and
west. It is one of the smallest states in Europe. The
capital is Andorra la Vella.

▪ The Principality of Andorra is divided into 7


parishes: Andorra la Vieja, Canillo, Encamp,
Escaldes-Engordany, La Massana, Ordino and Sant
Julia de Loria.

the seven parishes of the principality of
Andorra, being also the smallest and the
most populated of all. It is located in the
mountains of the Pyrenees, between
France and Spain.
▪ Since the principality was established in
1278, Andorra la Vella has always been

anthem
"El gran Carlemany" is the national anthem of
the Principality of Andorra. Enric Marfany Bons
composed the music, while the lyrics were
authored by Joan Benlloch i Vivó.
It was adopted as the national anthem on 8
September 1921, which is also the national day
of Andorra.
The lyrics make reference to several key aspects
of Andorran culture and history, such as the
heritage of the Carolingian Empire.

Base of the economy

▪ The Andorran economy is currently supported by


tourism, despite the fact that the principality has
traditionally been known for being an agricultural
and livestock country. Millions of tourists visit
Andorra every year, attracted by the region's
climate and trade.

▪ Andorra signed a Monetary Agreement with the
European Union on 30 June 2011. As a result,
Andorra can use the euro as its official currency
and issue its own euro coins. One euro is
equivalent to 1.6 dollars, which is equivalent to
24.39 bolivars.

history
Legend has it that Charlemagne founded Andorra in
the year 805, in recognition of the help that its
inhabitants gave him in the fight against the
Saracens. But the first document in which the
country is mentioned is the act of consecration of
the Cathedral of Santa María de Urgell, from the
mid-9th century. In 1278 and 1288 couples were
signed that made Andorra's sovereignty official,
thus the principality was born.

will find the white partridge, the groundhog, the
bruna cow, the chamois, the vulture or the river
trout.
▪ Related to flora and agriculture, you can look at the
grandalla, which is one of Andorra's symbol, the
tobacco's flowers, raspberries, blueberries and, of
course, fir and birch.
