Logic
– is a method of reasoning that
involves a series of statement,
each of which must be true if
the statement is true.
There are 2 types of digital logic:

Combinational

Sequential
Combinational – refers to the type of logic that
depends only in existing conditions to produce the
outputs.
Sequential – refers to operation that needs some form
of memory, since the output depend not only on current
existing input conditions but to previous input as well.
Logic gates are the basic building blocks in digital
electronics.

It is an electronic circuit having one or more

than one input and only one output.
Logic gate =
They are intended to implement different logic
functions such as the:
NOT
OR
NOR
AND
NAND
XOR (exclusive OR)
and XNOR (exclusive NOR)
There are many ways of describing the function
of logic gates and other logic devices.

The two most common are through :

Timing Diagram

Input/Output Designation
Input can be
A, B, C, D ……..depending on the number of
input terminal OR combination of number
and letter. Ex, 1A.
Output can be B, C, D ………. Or Q, Q1, Q2, Q3
…………. depending on the number of output
terminal OR combination of number and
letter. Ex, 4Y.

terminal of
the IC
