MicroDicom DICOM Viewer is application for primary processing and preservation of

medical images in DICOM format
MicroDicom is equipped with most common tools for manipulation of DICOM images
and it has an intuitive user interface.
MicroDicom also has the advantage of being free for use and accessible to everyone for
non-commercial use.
If you want to use software for commercial, please see our Online Store.
This program has no CE mark (EU) or FDA approval (USA) nor any other
national or international approval as medical device. It is therefore not to
be used for clinical purposes and in any way to effect patient management.

Handling DICOM medical image data

Export DICOM files to images, movies, clipboard and text

MicroDicom DICOM viewer can export DICOM images to common graphics formats and

videos. Our software can be used to convert JPEG, BMP images to DICOM images.
Images can be send to the Windows clipboard and after that paste in other applications.

Patient CD/DVD/USB DICOM Viewer

We offer MicroDicom DICOM viewer CD/DVD/USB version. This autorun package can be
burned with DICOM images together on CD/DVD/USB or other external storage. Our
software runs from CD/DVD on other computers without installation. Users can insert
CD and autorun will start our viewer and show images that are written on the CD. It is
suited for patient CD/DVD to show DICOM images without installation.

Split the screen for comparing different DICOM images

Series from different studies or examinations can be compared in our viewer. Images
can be displayed side by side with splitting the view. You can compare images from
same or different series.
Search and download DICOM images from PACS

You can use MicroDicom DICOM viewer as PACS (Picture archiving and communication
system) client. Our viewer easily can query and retrieve images from PACS locations, by
using following DICOM protocols: C-ECHO, C-FIND, C-MOVE, C-GET, C-STORE. Also

you can send DICOM images to PACS servers or other computers.
Supported DICOM files

MicroDicom DICOM viewer can open studies produced by different medical equipment.
· Compressed and uncompressed RLE, JPEG Lossy, JPEG Lossless, JPEG2000 Lossy,
JPEG2000 Lossless compressions
· Structured Reports, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 transfer syntaxes, Encapsulated PDF
· Support medical images, produced by different medical equipment: CT, MRI, US,
XA, CR, DX, CT, PET-CT, …
Print DICOM images on standard printer

Easily can print DICOM images with MicroDicom. You have to choose images from a
series, how much image per page and print. Also you can hide sensitive information
from the images before printing as name of patient, age, etc.
DICOM viewer portable version

The Zip package with our viewer is designed to be easily moved from one computing
environment to another. Our portable version can be stored on USB drive and use on
different computers.

Installation
Open download page of MicroDicom DICOM Viewer
https://www.microdicom.com/downloads.html
You can use installation package or portable zip packages.
Installation package
Download installation package on your computer. You can choose between 32 or 64 bit
version of installer.
· MicroDicom DICOM viewer x86 is 32 bit version
· MicroDicom DICOM viewer x64 is 64 bit version
Click on the downloaded installer file to run it.

Windows will show "User Account Control" alert. You have to click Yes to start the
installation.
Complete the following steps.


When you click the Finish button on the last step, MicroDicom is installed and will be
run for first time on your machine.
Portable zip package
Download portable zip package on your computer. You can choose between 32 or 64
bit version of portable package.
· MicroDicom DICOM viewer x86 zip is 32 bit version
· MicroDicom DICOM viewer x64 zip is 64 bit version
Unzip content of the package on your hard drive.

Just double click on mDicom.exe and MicroDicom DICOM Viewer will run.
System requirements
· Windows OS - Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
and Windows 11
· Intel or AMD 1GHz or faster processor
· 512MB of RAM or more
· 14 MB of free disk space for installation
· 1024x768 screen resolution or higher
MicroDicom DICOM Viewer is application for Windows system. But you can easily run it
on macOS using Wine or CrossOver MAC software.
Setup command-line arguments
Installers accept a few options on the command line. These options give the user a bit
more control over the installation process.
/S Runs the installer silently.

Sets the default installation

directory. It must be the
last parameter used in the
command line and must not
/D
contain any quotes, even if
the path contains spaces.
Only absolute paths are
supported.
You can use in command line 'MicroDicom-X.X.X-win64.exe /S'. Note that /S is

uppercase and X.X.X is version of installer.
Example: MicroDicom-4.0.0-x64.exe /S /D=C:\Program Files\MicroDicom

Activation
Activation via UI
1. Start MicroDicom DICOM Viewer.

2. Select Help menu and Registration... menu item.
3. Just paste your name, email and serial number that you received after payment in
the following dialog.
· The serial number and email are case sensitive!
· Please do not share your key with others!

4. Close application and start it again.

5. Now you have full licensed version of MicroDicom.
Activation via command line
mDicom.exe /SerialNumber <serial number> /LicenseName

<name> /LicenseEmail <email>
Example:
mDicom.exe /SerialNumber XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /LicenseName "John
Smith" /LicenseEmail john.smith@sample.com

Open files within application
1. Open File menu and click on Open...

or click Open command on Standard toolbar
or use Ctrl + O keyboard shortcut
2. Open dialog is shown, select DICOM files that you want to open and click Open
button. You can open also BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG, TIFF, WMF files.
The following options allow you to specify which file to open:
File Name - Specifies the file you want to open. This box lists files with the
extension you select in the List Files of Type field.
List Files of Type - Specifies the type of file you want to open: All files(*.*), All
DICOM files(*.dcm,*.dcm30), DICOM files(*.dcm), DICOM 3.0 files(*.dcm30),
DICOM ZIP files(*.dmz)
3. Files will be loaded in MicroDicom DICOM Viewer.

Open files directly from a File Explorer via drag & drop or double click
· Drag & drop files on MicroDicom's main window
· Double mouse click on a DICOM file in File Explorer or right mouse click Open with
MicroDicom DICOM Viewer

Open DICOM files from a CD/DVD
1. Open File menu and click on Open CD/DVD
or click Open CD/DVD command on Standard toolbar

or use Alt + O keyboard shortcut
Open DICOMDIR file
Open DICOMDIR file within application
1. Open File menu and click on Open DICOMDIR...
or click Open DICOMDIR command on Standard toolbar

or use Ctrl + Alt + O keyboard shortcut
2. Open dialog is shown, select DICOMDIR file that you want to open and click Open
button.
The following options allow you to specify which file to open:
File Name - Specifies the file you want to open.

Open DICOM files from a ZIP archive
Open DICOM ZIP archive within application
1. Open File menu and click on Open ZIP file...

or click Open ZIP file... command on Standard toolbar

2. Open ZIP file dialog is shown, select ZIP file that you want to open and click Open
button.

3. Password may be required if the archive is password protected.
4. Files from archive will be extracted in a temp folder and will be scaned for DICOM
files.
Open ZIP archive files directly from a File Explorer via drag & drop or
double click
· Drag & drop ZIP files on MicroDicom's main window

· Right mouse click and choose Open with MicroDicom DICOM Viewer

Scan for DICOM files
Scan folder for DICOM files within application
1. Open File menu and click on Scan for DICOM files...
or click Scan for DICOM files command on Standard toolbar
or use Ctrl + Shift + O keyboard shortcut
2. Choose the folder that you want to scan for DICOM files and click OK.

3. Files from folder will be loaded in MicroDicom DICOM Viewer.
Scan for DICOM files directly from a File Explorer via drag & drop or
Open with MicroDicom DICOM Viewer in context menu
· Drag & drop folders on MicroDicom's main window

· Right mouse click on folders in File Explorer and click Open with MicroDicom
