NARRATIVE REPORT
“DIVISION RESEARCH CONFERENCE 2019”

Living in 21st century education, modifications in the educational system are very
visual. Therefore, research plays vital role in policy formulation, program development,
process management and advocacy enhancement. The devoted output of the researches
can be utilized by the organization in producing lasting and efficient impact to the
community. The value of research work is essential in delivering quality education to the
learners.

In line with the advocacy of promoting the essence of research, the Division of
Calamba held “Division Research Conference 2019” with the theme “Educational Research,
Policy and Practice: Community of Transformative Leaders” at BayLeaf Hotel, General Trias
Cavite last October 8-9, 2019 headed by the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr.
Rosemarie D. Torres. The said conference aims to learn more about the beauty of research
both locally and internationally, as well as to showcase different qualitative and quantitative
researches of teaching and non-teaching personnel in SDO Calamba.

The assembly area started at 6 o’clock in the morning at DepEd Calamba City.
Participants were provided with designated service vehicle. Upon arrival, each participant
registered. Also, each district was given ample time to organize research booth per district in
their respective area.

The opening program started at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Afterwards, plenary


session was followed. Session one focused on the “Basics of Qualitative Data Analysis and
Writing” delivered by Dr. Irene R. Tanzo, the first speaker from Division of Sociology-
Anthropology-Psychology at University of Philippines Los Banos. She shared her knowledge
on how to make qualitative research, its type and uses. Then, Dr. Levi E. Elipane, the
second speaker from the College of Graduate Studies and Teacher Education Research at
Philippine Normal University, shared his insights and experiences in “Improving Teaching
Process Through Lesson Study”. He shared his practices on Lesson Study based on Japan
and what are the uses of undergoing researches to be able to come up with the ideal
lessons to be employed to the pupils. The last speaker, Joseph R. Jacob, Chief Executive
Officer of STEM Educ Training Hub presented his own experiences on “Educational
Research Network and Linkages to International Community”. Research is a world-wide
connection to be able to present the beauty of the local study that can be competed to the
international researches.
The first day ended with a simple get-together.

On the second day, plenary sessions happened and selected twelve researches
presented by both teaching and non-teaching personnel of SDO Calamba. Each
presentation ended with post conference. An hour of gallery walk was followed to give
chance to view different poster presentation.

After the lunch break, break-out sessions was done. The participants divided into
three classes wherein there was simultaneous presentation of researches. Twenty-four
more researches were given opportunity to be presented.

The conference ended with the closing program, accepting the challenge of
continuous utilization of research as it is helpful in addressing the needs of the learners in
their respective station. Also, giving recognition to the presenter and participants, awarding
of the Best Research Booth, Best Poster Presentation and Best Presenter was also done. In
all, a total of 102 researches participated in the said conference.
