When you hear one says: ‫أنا من المغرب‬ what does he mean?

*‫ المغرب‬is the nation of Morocco, I know you notice that ‫ المغرب‬begins with "‫ "أل‬,as it
refers to a mere meaning. ‫ المغرب‬literally means: “The place of the sunset”, as it is the
very west of the Arab World.

*Officially, It’s “‫ ”المملكة المغربية‬or the “the Moroccan Kingdom”. ‫ المملكة المغربية‬is one of the oldest
kingdoms in the world.

* ‫ املغرب‬was the first government to recognize US after the independence declaration in 1786.
* Morocco’s largest cities are: Casablanca, Marrakesh, Fez, Tangiers, and the capital: Rabat.

* Most of the population are Arab, Berber and a sizeable portion of the population is identified
as Haratin and Gnawa.

* The vast majority of the Moroccans " ‫ " املغاربة‬are Muslims.

* The Arabic language and the Amazigh language are the two official languages in
Morocco.
* The Moroccan Arabic dialect is quite different to Levantine and Gulf accents, as it was affected by the
Spanish, French, Amazigh.
