Accident Prevention

When an accident occurs we are quick to investigate and find the cause. This helps
us prevent the accident from reoccuring.
But wouldn’t it be easier to prevent the accident in the first place?

Some Examples of Unsafe Conditions:


Don’t Wait Until an Accident Happens
Too often hazardous conditions come to our
 Non-Compliant or inadequate guard rail
attention only after someone is hurt or seriously
injured. If you see an unsafe act or unsafe
 Defective or damaged equipment
condition, don't ignore it and gamble on you or a
friend not getting hurt. If you notice someone
 Unknown weight capacities and WLL
working in an unsafe manner, let that person
know. You could be preventing a serious injury. (Working Load Limits)
Or, if you see an unsafe condition, correct it. If
you can't, report it to your Supervisor.  Poor or reckless supervision

 Lack of proper safety equipment

The main things that we look for when an  No Safety Program


accident occurs are the Root Cause and
Contributing Factors. These are usually  No management support of safety program
found as Unsafe Conditions or Unsafe
Actions.  Name some other unsafe conditions

Almost all accidents can be prevented by Unsafe Actions and Unsafe Conditions can
eliminating Unsafe Actions and Unsafe cause many accidents and frequently a
