organizational assets. They were formerly expensive solutions to security issues. This type of
security system is becoming more accessible due to cost-cutting measures and rapid technical
improvements.
There are a few key ways in which lasers are distinct from other light sources. Two
characteristics are crucial for security systems. Laser light is a focused beam that doesn't spread
out as a lightbulb or flashlight would. Additionally, laser light only has one color in essence.
Laser light doesn't spread out very much, thus it can be delivered a great distance yet contain
enough energy in a compact space to activate the detector for the security system. Due to its
single wavelength, it is possible to apply a blocking filter to the detector to allow just laser light
to pass through while inhibiting background light from reaching the sensor.
