Preliminary information

SUMMARY: In this lesson, learners will identify parts of the school and vocabulary related to it.
AIMS (4Cs)

Content: Parts of the school.

Communication: Parts of the school + structure “It’s the…”.

Cognition: For learners to identify and name parts of the school; for learners to be able to briefly describe parts
of the school.

Culture: For learners to work together as a class to support each other's learning.

TIMETABLE FIT: This lesson is embedded in the first chapter of their Student’s Book – Back to School.
After this lesson, students will learn question words related to school subjects.

ASSESSMENT: Teacher observation of learner understanding and participation in activities.

ASSUMPTIONS: Students may already know the alphabet and the numbers in their L1.

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS:

- Some activities may take longer than expected, so the teacher will have to remind students of the time.

- Students may get too noisy during the school tour. The teacher will have to monitor students’ behaviour.

- Students may use L1 to participate. The teacher will allow but will help them to recast it in English.

- The pronunciation of some words and structures may be a challenge for some learners, so the teacher
has to practice more with these students by repeating.
