1. What are the causes of the pay gap in the 50s and 60s?

Lower education rates

Lower workforce participation

Feminine jobs

2. Many of the factors that were causing the pay gap shrank, except for one. What is it?

Women should raise children because it is assumed that women are the primary caregivers
because caregiving is more of a woman’s job than a man’s.

3. Why is it important for women to be paid equally?

We know that narrowing the gender gap isn’t impossible. Equal pay is essential because every
worker deserves to have a voice and be properly represented and protected, no matter their
gender, skin color, religion, etc.

- Women become primary caregivers because they are the ones who are always left alone in the
house with their child while their husband is at work.

2. Is a pay gap based on choices and a pay gap that's just because you're a woman the same
thing? Why? Or why not?

— No, because a pay gap based on choices is the same as you agreeing and it's your choice,
whereas a pay gap because you're a woman is discrimination and it appears that women are not
paid equally because of their gender.

3. What is included in the preamble to the new Constitution of Rwanda?

— The New Constitution guarantees equal rights for men and women.
