2. MODULE OBJECTIVES

On completion of this module students should be able to assess and utilise some of the major
international business management issues. They should be able:

1. Place the purchasing and supply function in perspective and understand the elements
and procedures of a purchasing system
2. Understand the role of the purchasing and supply manager from a managerial point of
view.
3. Manage the supplier base
4. Understand the importance of quality in purchasing and supply management
5. Gain an overview of price determination and cost analysis; Understand negotiation as a
purchasing instrument.
6. Gain an overview of management of the right quantity.
