CREW DUTIES
BOAT AND FIRE STATION, ABONDON SHIP & MAN OVER BOARD
General Alarm/Fire Station Alarm
Given on ships bell or siren, one continuous long blast.
Boat Station Alarm Given on ships bell or siren, seven short blast followed by continuous long blast.

1. Master 2 On the bridge, over all in charge. Operate
the radio station, sending the Distress
message and communicate with the land
and other ships stations
On board emergency VHF Ch 17
2. Chief Officer 3 Over all in charge of launching life raft
and embarkation crew to life raft
Man over board:
In charge of launching the rescue boat
portable VHF and communicate on VHF
Ch.17
3. 2nd Officer 7 Bring SART,EPIRB and Emergency
VHF.
Check all crew on Boat Station and report
to the Bridge
Man over board:
Boat crew. Collect Portable VHF. Put on
Immersion suit or life jacket. Embark to
the rescue boat. Starts boat’s engine and
steer rescue boat.
4. Chief 2 Assists of launching the lifraft.
Engineer Man over board:
Collect Portable VHF, continuously
lookout for MOB inform the Bridge
communicate on VHF Ch.17
5.AB FWD 7 Assist launching the Life Rafts. Rig
Cabin Disembarkation ladder.
Man over board:
Boat crew. Put on immersion suit or life
jacket. Embark to rescue boat fit the plug.
Operate with boat`s launching device.
Release the hook and painter
6. AB Aft cabin 3 Assist launching the life rafts. Operate
with davit
Man over board:
Take off the lashing of boat. Operate with
davit.
7. Cook 4 If time and order given collect extra
water, food and blankets
Man over board:
Take off the lashing of boat. Operate with
forward painter
8. Fitter or Proceed to the bridge, stands well clear
Passenger and act promptly on given orders
Fire station
On the bridge, over all in charge.
Operate the radio station, sending the
Distress message and communicate with
the land and other ships stations.
Emergency stops ventilations from the
bridge. On board emergency VHF Ch 17
At the scene over all in charge,of
fighting the fire. Communicate with the
bridge on VHF Ch.17.
At the scene of fire: assesses the actual
situation and inform the Master of
extension of fire and fire fighting
progress
Help to fireman No.1 to put on the
fireman suit and check breathing
apparatus.
Bring on scene of fire nozzles and
hoses. At the scene of fire: Help to
fireman No.1 to put on the fireman suit
and check breathing apparatus. Assist to
cooling border to burning compartments
with fire hose
Start fire pumps, give water on fire line,
switch off electric supply in fire place.
In case of Engine room fire:
Start emergency fire pump. On given
order pull the quick-stop release valves,
on masters order activates CO2 system.
Fireman 1. Put on the fireman suit and
breathing apparatus, search and
extinguish fire inside of burning
compartment.
Fireman 2. Put on the fireman suit and
breathing apparatus, search and
extinguish fire inside of burning
compartment.
Closes doors, vent. Flaps
Cool border of burning compartment
with fire hose
Proceed to the bridge, stands well clear
and act promptly on given orders
