Volkswagen emissions scandal - In 2015, German automaker

Volkswagen admitted to installing software in its diesel cars that cheated

emissions tests. The scandal led to the recall of millions of vehicles and

billions of dollars in fines and settlements.

Wells Fargo account fraud scandal - In 2016, it was revealed that US

bank Wells Fargo had opened millions of unauthorized bank and credit

card accounts for its customers in order to meet sales targets. The

scandal led to the resignation of the bank's CEO and a $185 million

settlement with regulators.

Petrobras corruption scandal - In 2014, Brazilian oil and gas company

Petrobras was implicated in a massive corruption scandal involving

kickbacks and bribes to politicians and company executives. The scandal

led to the impeachment and imprisonment of the country's president, as

well as the arrest and conviction of several high-ranking Petrobras

executives.
Toshiba accounting scandal - In addition to the accounting fraud

mentioned earlier, Toshiba was also found to have engaged in

widespread financial misconduct, including overstating profits and

understating losses. The company was forced to sell off several of its

businesses and its CEO resigned.

Tyco International embezzlement scandal - In 2002, it was revealed that

US multinational corporation Tyco International had engaged in

widespread embezzlement and accounting fraud, including the

misappropriation of millions of dollars by its CEO and CFO. The

scandal led to the resignation of the company's top executives and prison

sentences for several of them.
