National Day

National Day takes place in every city in Romania on the 1 st of

December. It is held to remember the Great Union of the Romanian
Principates.
Before the actual event, there are many military rehearses for the
major parades that will take place in the main cities and there are specials
ceremonies such as the one in Alba Iulia where one can witness changing of
the guard ceremony.
The most significant parade is the National military parade of the
Romanian Armed Forces where the president, as the commander in Chef,
walks to salute the Official Guard, followed by the performing of the
National Anthem. Moreover, on that actual day, war veteran join the parade,
proudly displaying their medals.
The entire activity is broadcast live on every major TV channels, so
that everyone who cannot physically participated in the event, to be able to
experience the feeling of patriotic commitment.
National Day represents a very important event. We should respect
and feel proud of those people who died fighting to secure our country’s
freedom and unity.
