To Whom It May Concern:

Each semester, the Education Undergraduate Society hosts a variety of Professional Development seminars for students in the Faculty of
Education at the University of Lethbridge. Thanks to the invaluable knowledge and time presenters are willing to share, these sessions provide
meaningful learning opportunities for aspiring educators. This letter acknowledges and commends Cody Chipman for attending the following
Professional Development sessions during the Fall 2022 semester:

“Using Literature to Build Empathy in History Education” was presented by Aaron Stout On September 27th, 2022. This session explored
strategies on how to engage students with stories that relate to the human interactions that frame narractives.

“Mioohpokoiksi - Blackfoot Legend of the Lost Children” was presented by Annette BruisedHead on September 28th, 2022. This session
looked at the Blackfoot Legend of Mioohpokoiksi (the Lost Children) and how it relates to educating children today.

“How to Teach a Controversial Issue Without Becoming One” was presented by Lance Grigg on October 4th, 2022. This session explored how
teaching controversial issues can be an effective way of nurturing critical thinking in the classroom.

“Indigenous Education Resources: Where Do I Start?” was presented by Stacey Running Rabit and Leslee Mills on October 5 th, 2022. In this
session, participants learned how to critically evaluate classroom resources and choose materials that accurately reflect and demonstrate the
strength and diversity of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples.

“Hip-Hop Culture and its Influence on Mental Health and Education” was presented by Dr. Thelma Gunn and Dr. Doug Checkley on
October 13th, 2022. This session explored research in utilizing hip-hop culture to connect with students.

“Finding Our Way in Indigenous Education: Connecting Hearts and Minds” was presented by Stacey Running Rabbit & Jackie Young on
October 18th, 2022. This session explored how Alberta teachers and school leaders are often afraid of approaching Indigenous education because
they feel unprepared or are concerned about saying something wrong. This workshop helps participants deepen their understanding of entry points
within the Teaching Quality Standard and Leadership Quality Standard.

“Practicum Overview & How to Connect with your TA” was presented by Jennifer LeGrandeur on October 19th, 2022. This session focused
on the best ways to connect with a Teacher Associate during practicum orientation and throughout PSI practicum by discussing how to build
relationships and actively engage in the classroom.

“Indigenous Content in the New Teaching Quality Standard: Moving from Inspiring to Requiring” was presented by Annette Fox
BruisedHead & Terry-Lynn Cook on October 25th, 2022. In this session, participants were introduced to PD activities for Indigenous-focused
competencies and indicators in the Teaching Quality Standard and Leadership Quality Standard with examples such as reconciliation through
group activities, resources to grow competence and confidence, and ideas for future Indigenous PD opportunities.

“ᑕᐯᐧᐃᐧᐣ tapwewin: Dismantling Anti-Indigenous Racism” was presented by Jackie Young on November 1st, 2022. This presentation used
historical and contemporary examples to encourage participants to critically reflect on concepts such as systemic racism and assimilation.
Participants were challenged to consider their role in dismantling anti-Indigenous racism.
