CBSE NCERT SOLUTIONS FOR MATHS - CLASS X

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) provides National Council of Educational

Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks for the students of different classes for CBSE schools.
These textbooks act as a base for almost all the other boards in India. Due to which students
across the country prefer to study NCERT textbooks.

Class X Solutions for NCERT books include all the questions that are given in the textbook
of NCERT. The questions help the students to deeply understand the concepts of the topics.
Regularly solving the questions and obtaining the solutions help the students to cover
different varieties of questions.

Chapter No 1 – Real Numbers

Real numbers include all the decimals, natural numbers and fractions. This chapter is
somewhat an advance version of which was studied in Class IX. This chapter explains obtaining
HCF and LCM by prime factorisation method and also about irrational numbers. Another
important aspect of the chapter is Euclid’s division Algorithm which is used to calculate HCF
of two positive integers. The most important part of the chapter is The Fundamental Theorem
of Arithmetic.

Exercises for Chapter 1

 Exercise 1.2 – 7 questions
 Exercise 1.3 – 3 questions
 Exercise 1.4 – 3 questions

Chapter No 2 – Polynomials

This chapter explains the different types of polynomials (linear, quadratic and cubic
polynomials), zeroes of a polynomial and the Relationship between Zeroes and Coefficients
of a Polynomial.

 Exercise 2.2 – 2 questions
 Exercise 2.3 – 5 questions
 Exercise 2.4 – 5 questions

Chapter No 3 – Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables

This chapter explains deeply the concept of linear equations in two variables. Graphical
Method of Solution of a Pair of Linear Equations explains the representation of linear
equations graphically and show that whether the given equations are consistent or not.
Algebraic Method of Solution of a Pair of Linear Equations includes Substitution Method and
Elimination Method to find the solution.

Exercises for Chapter 3

 Exercise 3.1 – 3 questions
 Exercise 3.2 – 7 questions
 Exercise 3.3 – 3 questions
 Exercise 3.4 – 2 questions
 Exercise 3.5 – 4 questions
 Exercise 3.6 – 2 questions
 Exercise 3.7 – 8 questions

Chapter No 4 – Quadratic Equations

In Chapter 2, we have studied different types of polynomials. This chapter explains in detail
the method of solving the quadratic equation through the factorization method.

Exercises for Chapter 4

 Exercise 4.1 – 2 questions

 Exercise 4.2 – 6 questions
 Exercise 4.3 – 11 questions
 Exercise 4.4 – 5 questions

Chapter No 5 – Arithmetic Progressions

This chapter explains Arithmetic Progressions (two numbers in sequence whose difference is
constant). The concept of nth term can be used to find any position of a term in the given AP.
Sum of first n term in an AP helps to find the sum of any number of terms with the help of
suitable formula.

Exercises for Chapter 5

 Exercise 5.1 – 4 questions

 Exercise 5.2 – 20 questions
 Exercise 5.3 – 20 questions
 Exercise 5.4 – 5 questions

Chapter No 6 – Triangles
This chapter explains a wide range of theorems related to the similarity of triangles. It also
describes different similarity criterions which help in discovering that the triangles are similar
or not.

Exercises for Chapter 6

 Exercise 6.1 – 3 questions

 Exercise 6.2 – 10 questions
 Exercise 6.3 – 16 questions
 Exercise 6.4 – 9 questions
 Exercise 6.5 – 17 questions
 Exercise 6.6 – 10 questions

Chapter No 7 – Coordinate Geometry

In this chapter using coordinate geometry, it becomes possible to find the distance between
two points, dividing lines in m:n ratio, finding the mid-point of a line, etc. Distance formula
and Section formula are the twos formula used in the particular chapter.

Exercises for Chapter 7

 Exercise 7.1 – 4 questions

 Exercise 7.2 – 20 questions
 Exercise 7.3 – 20 questions
 Exercise 7.4 – 5 questions

Chapter No 8 – Introduction to Trigonometry

The chapter mainly revolves around trigonometric ratios of a right angled triangle ( cos, sin,
tan, cosec, sec, cot ). Trigonometric Ratios of Some Specific Angles involves the study of
trigonometric ratios with angles such as 0, 45, 90, 30, 60 whose values are constant always
and can be used directly to solve the problems. Trigonometric Identities is another concept
that represents the trigonometric ratios in an equation.

Exercises for Chapter 8

 Exercise 8.2 – 4 questions
 Exercise 8.3 – 7 questions
 Exercise 8.4 – 5 questions

Chapter No 9 – Some Applications of Trigonometry

This chapter is a continuation to the previous chapter that is about trigonometry. This chapter
includes real life examples of trigonometry. The key terms that can be encountered are Line
of Sight, angle of elevation, angle of depression.

Exercises for Chapter 9

 Exercise 9.1 – 16 questions

Chapter No 10 – Circles

This chapter clears the concept about circle and all the terms related to it. The main topics
are Tangent to a Circle and Number of Tangents from a Point on a Circle.

Exercises for Chapter 10

 Exercise 10.1 – 4 questions

 Exercise 10.2 – 13 questions

Chapter No 11 – Areas Related to Circles
