An experimental investigation tested a form-stable phase change material for thermally managing a coaxial cable system. A container holding the solid-state phase change material housed the cable system during heating and cooling cycles while temperature readings were taken. The results showed that using the phase change material enhanced the cable system's thermal control by reducing temperature fluctuations and increasing heat dissipation, lowering the operating temperature and extending the cable lifespan through more reliable operation.

The article outlines an experimental investigation using a form-stable low-
temperature phase change material for the thermal control of a coaxial electrical cable system (PCM). A rectangular container filled with form-stable PCM housed a coaxial cable system for the experiment. Throughout the heating and cooling processes, the temperature was taken at various locations and times. As a result of using form-stable PCM, the coaxial cable system's thermal management was greatly enhanced, with less temperature fluctuation and more heat dissipation capability. The form-stable PCM also decreased the cable system's operating temperature rise, which can lengthen the cable's lifespan and increase its reliability. The study showed that form-stable PCM has the potential to be an efficient thermal management solution for electrical cable systems operating in challenging conditions.
