Time Signature AKA Meter
Top Number = Number of beats per measure
Bottom Number = Type of note that gets “the beat” (also equals beats in the whole
note)

4 – 4 beats per measure

4 – (quarter) gets the beat (0=4)

6 – 6 beats per measure

8 – (eighth) gets the beat (0=8)

2 – 2 beats per measure

2 – (half) gets the beat (0=2)

Form: the order or arrangement of sections in a musical composition or song

Strophic: AAA one section keeps repeating
Binary: AB 2 sections that stay in order
Ternary: ABA 2 sections where the 1st section comes back
Rondo: ABACA Recurring section or theme that alternates with contrasting
sections
Song: Intro/Verse/Chorus/Bridge/Chorus/Outro
