8. (a) A small business sells products with 1,000,000tshs during its first year. The
owner of the business has set a goal of increasing annual sales by Tshs 750,000

years of the business in operation.
(b) If the third term of Geometric progression is 100 and the sixth term is 800, find the
fifth term and the sum of the first two terms.

9. (a) A rectangular picture is made of wooden bars. The length of its diagonal is 25cm.
Find the length of the frame if its width is 15cm.
(b) A student 1.6m tall and standing 52m from the foot of tree sees a bird on top of
the tree. If the angle of elevation of the bird from his eye is320 , find the height
of the tree.

10. (a) A man is four times as old as his son. In four years to come the product of their
ages will be 520. Find the present age of the son.
(b) If 𝑎𝑥 2 + 8𝑥 + 2is a perfect square, find the value of a.

14. (a) A nutrient prescribes a special diet for patients containing the following
number of units of vitamins A and B per kg of two food types F1 and F2 . Food
types F1 contains 20 units of vitamin A and 7units of vitamin B while food
type F2 contain 15 units of vitamin A and 14units of vitamins B. if the
minimum daily intake required is 120 units of vitamins A and 70 units of
vitamins B, what least mass of food a patient must have enough of these
vitamins?
