Social Media Strategy

I will be using social media to post updates about State of Art Winter Guard’s trip to Winter

Guard International World Championships. The team will be leaving for Dayton, Ohio on April

12 and competing April 13 through April 15. The goal of my social media content calendar is to

reach a wide variety of MSU students and alumni across a few social media platforms. The target

audience for these posts would be active social media users who are current or previous Spartans,

male and female, from 17-30 years old. Social media platforms I plan to use include Instagram,

TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook for State of Art Winter Guard’s trip to World Championships.

Instagram will allow us to post photos (both in feed and on Instagram stories) of the team and

what they’re doing. Posts can include up to 10 photos and videos, and stories are unlimited.

Instagram stories can show followers exactly what is going on in the moment, while posts can be

created over the course of the competition, choosing the best photos to include. Posts and stories

will allow us to tag the competition organization, as well as other well-known performers.

TikTok will allow us to edit and put together videos highlighting the best moments from State of

Art’s time at World Championships. TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms,

and its algorithm allows for any video of creator to be noticed. Several of the most famous

celebrities are famous due to exposure from TikTok, and high exposure would be very beneficial

to State of Art.
Twitter will allow us to give live updates to followers as the event occurs. Twitter posts are short

and sweet but can be shared very easily using the re-tweet feature. Twitter posts can easily reach

more people than your followers, this platform would be useful for more public exposure.

Facebook will allow us to combine aspect of Instagram and Twitter, with the ability to post

several photos while also being able to post updates. Facebook would be the best platform to

reach MSU alumni, since Facebook appeals to an older demographic.
