After the song the members of the family makes the sign of the cross. The head of the family
introduces the celebration in these words:

Head of the Family:

Today the Church invites us to reflect on the Sacred

Heart of Jesus as one of the most touching symbols of
God’s love. This feast was established to celebrate Jesus’
tender and heroic love.

His divine and human love is symbolized by the

heart because such a symbol is common among most
cultures.

Already in the Old Testament, we find in the words of the

Prophet Hosea how powerful and faithful God’s love is,
while St. Paul, in the New Testament, prays that we may
comprehend “the breadth and the length, the height and
the depth” of Christ’s love for us. May our Eucharistic
celebration bring us to experience it ever
more deeply and empower us to reflect it in our life.

As we come together to celebrate the Family Celebration

for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
let us now give glory to God in the highest
and to his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Lamb of God who took away our sins.

Brothers and sisters let us now listen

to the reading from the holy Gospel according to John.

Since it was preparation day,

in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the
sabbath,
for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one,
the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken
and they be taken down.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first
and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus.
But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead,
they did not break his legs,
but one soldier thrust his lance into his side,
and immediately blood and water flowed out.
An eyewitness has testified, and his testimony is true;
he knows that he is speaking the truth,
so that you also may come to believe.
For this happened so that the Scripture passage might be
fulfilled:
Not a bone of it will be broken.
And again another passage says:
They will look upon him whom they have pierced.
At the end of the Gospel, the head of the family acclaims:

(Juan 19:31-37)
Noo’y Araw ng Paghahanda, at ayaw ng mga Judio na manatili sa krus ang mga bangkay sa Araw ng
Pamamahinga sapagkat dakila ang Araw ng Pamamahingang ito. Kaya’t hiniling nila kay Pilato na ipabali
ninto ang mga binti ng mga ipinako sa krus, at alisin doon ang mga bangkay. Naparoon nga ang mga kawal at
binali ang mga binti ng dalawang ipinakong kasabay ni Hesus. Ngunit pagdating nila kay Hesus at makitang
patay na siya, hindi na nila binali ang kanyang binti. Subalit inulos ng sibat ng isa sa mga kawal ang tagiliran ni
Hesus, at biglang dumaloy ang dugo at tubig. Ang nakakita nito ang nagpapatotoo — tunay ang kanyang
patotoo at alam niyang katotohanan ang sinabi niya – upang kayo’y maniwala. Nangyari ang mga ito upang
matupad ang sinabi ng kasulatan, “Walang mababali isa man sa kanyang mga buto.” At sinabi naman ng ibang
bahagi ng Kasulatan, “Pagmamasdan nila ang kanilang inulos.”

Mga kapatid, hayaan ninyo po akong basahin ang pagninilay na ginawa ng

kanyang kagalang-galang Pablo Virgilio David, Obispo ng Diyosesis ng
Kalookan.

Sabi ng kanta ni Donna Cruz:

“Kapag tumibok ang puso wala ka nang magagawa kundi sundin ito.”

Ibig niyang sabihin, kapag tinamaan ng pagibig ang tao, magiging parang
sunud-sunuran siya nito. Di ba sinabi ito ng makatang si Balagtas sa
“Florante at Laura”? “O pagibig na makapangyarihan kapag pumasok sa
puso ninuman, hahamakin ang lahat masunod ka lamang.” Parang ganito
rin ang kahulugan ng Pista ng Sagradong Puso. “Kapag tumibok sa puso
ng tao ang puso ng Diyos... wala nang magagawa ang tao kundi sundin
ito.”

Ang puso ay sagisag o larawan lang. Pag sinabi mo sa tao, “Wala ka bang
utak?” Ibig sabihin, “Hindi ka ba nag-iisip?” Kapag sinabi naman nating,
“Napaka-walang puso ng taong iyan.” Ibig sabihin malupit siya, walang
malasakit, hindi marunong magmahal.”

Kaya nga ang Araw ng Pag-ibig (Valentine’s Day) ay tinatawag nating

Araw ng mga Puso. Ang Pista ng Sagradong Puso ay tinatawag kong
Valentine’s Day in June.
Ang ipinagdiriwang natin ay Pagibig ng Diyos, na ating nakilala sa
Pagibig ni Kristo: ang Anak ng Diyos na naging Anak ng Tao. Iisa lang
ang puso ni Hesus, kahit siya’y Diyos na totoo at taong totoo.

Kay Hesus, ang pusong Diyos at pusong tao ay naging iisa. Iyon ang
sinasabi natin sa kinakanta natin pag First Friday: “O Sacred Heart, O
love divine, do keep us near to Thee. And make our hearts so like to
Thine, that we may holy be.” Sa Tagalog, “Mangyari nawa na ang mga
puso namin ay maging katulad ng puso mo, upang kami rin ay maging
banal, o sagrado.”

Paano at kailan nagiging katulad ng puso ng Diyos ang puso ng tao? May
sagot dito ang ang ating mga pagbasa. Ang puso daw ng Diyos ay parang
puso ng isang Mabuting Pastol. Hindi niya iiwan o pababayaan ang kahit
na isa sa kanyang mga tupa. Pakinggan ang sinabi ni propeta Ezekiel
34:15-16 “Ako, ang Panginoong Dios, ang mismong mag-aalaga sa aking
mga tupa, at silaʼy aking pagpapahingahin. Hahanapin ko ang mga
nawawala at ang mga naliligaw. Gagamutin ko ang mga may sugat at may
sakit, palalakasin ko ang mahihina.”

Sa Panginoon, walang patapon. Hindipala totoo na mahal lang tayo ng

Panginoon kapag mababait tayo at masunurin. Hindi pala totoo na ang
kaligtasan ay hangad ng Diyos para lamang sa karapat-dapat. Upang
patunayan na lubos ang pag-ibig niya, inialay niya ang buhay niya para sa
katubusan ng mga makasalanan. Ito ang pagkakaiba ng PAGTUBOS sa
PAGLILIGTAS.

Kay Kristo nakilala natin ang Diyos na naghahangad maligtas, hindi lang
ang mababait kundi pati na rin ang mga pasaway. Dahil anak ang turing
sa atin, wala siyang balak itapon ni isa man sa atin.

Kapag ganito rin tayo magmahal, nagiging sagrado o banal din ang ating
puso. Kapag sumunod tayo sa tibok ng puso ng Diyos, matututo tayong
magmahal na katulad ni Kristo. Handang masaktan, magdusa, mamatay
para sa minamahal.
Dahil hangad niyang maligtas ang makasalanan, ang pantubos niya sa mga
nasangla sa pagkakasala ay katawan at dugo, sariling buhay niya. Di ba
sinabi niya, “May hihigit pa kayang dakila sa pagibig na laang ialay ang
buhay alang-alang sa minamahal?”

Pagibig pala ang tunay na nagpapaganda sa tao at nagpapataas sa kanyang

dangal bilang nilikha sa hugis at wangis ng Diyos. At dahil tayong mga
nabinyagan ay nabubuhay na sa katawan ni Kristo, bahagi ng biyayang
ating tinanggap ay ang maranasang tumibok ang puso ng Diyos sa ating
pusong makatao.
GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

Head of the Family:

God’s love was manifested to us in the love of Jesus. He

continues to love us, despite our poor response. With humble
gratitude, let us now present our petitions to him saying:

R- Lord Jesus, may our hearts burn with love for you!

One member of the family:

That the Church may continue to direct her preferential

love to the poor, the needy, the oppressed, and those who are
longing for signs of God’s love, let us pray.

That the Holy Father through his presence and teaching, may
bring the love of God to all, let us pray!

R- Lord Jesus, may our hearts burn with love for you!

That all who try to proclaim the love of God through their different
professions and vocations, may not feel discouraged in the

THE LORD’S PRAYER

After the Lord’s Prayer the head of the family invites the members of the family to offer the sign
of peace to each other.

The head of the family invites the members of the family:

My brothers and sisters,

the Holy Eucharist
has been entrusted to us
as a sacrament of love,
a sign of unity, and a blood of charity.
Let us now seek to receive the Lord spiritually.
All members will join in praying.

My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed

Sacrament.I love You above all things,
and I long for You in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
As though You have already come,
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
After communion the members of the family stand. The head of the family recites the following

May this sacrament of charity, O Lord,

make us fervent with the fire of holy love,
