Procedures

Introduction

● “Today we are learning about what a seed needs to grow.”

Anticipatory Set/Activating Learning Strategies

● Play the Generation Genius video that gives the students an introduction of plants and
how they grow.

Sequence of Lesson

Model
 ● We will do a nature walk in the courtyard and observe the plants
○ We will talk about this instead of writing it down to save time
● What structures do plants have in common?
● What does it take to be a plant?
● How much water does a seed need to grow?
● We will have soil and seeds and plant something together as a class.
Independent practice
● Students will complete wanted poster**

Closure/Summarizing Strategy

● We will go over their wanted posters/ideas as a class.

Assessment/Evaluation
● I will assess students through their independent worksheet and our class discussion.

Special Considerations

Early Finishers

● If students finish early, they can go on reflex math on their Ipads.

Remediation

● I will write an example of the wanted poster for students to view.

Enrichment

● Students will use their knowledge of living things to understand how plants grow and
what they need to grow.

Special Accommodations

● Walk around helping students who may need extra support for the independent portion.
